Betty Lou McDaniel
Betty Lou McDaniel, 91, of Vidor, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023. She was born on June 25, 1931, in Crowley, Louisiana, to Beulah Petry Faulk and Arthur Faulk.
Sister McDaniel graduated from Crowley High School in 1948, after which she moved to Beaumont, Texas to live with her stepdad’s sister. She began working at W.T. Grant’s department store. The family she was living with attended an Apostolic church, whose Pastor was Brother Gibson. This is where Elder and Sister McDaniel met and on July 1, 1949, were married.
Thus began a life of service to the Lord and His people. When Elder McDaniel became pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Vidor, Texas on June 25, 1960, she filled the role of pastor’s wife for the next forty years. She was noted for her work behind the scenes and never desired for attention. Sister McDaniel was a gracious hostess and was known far and wide for the wonderful meals she provided for her guests. Even until her passing her concern for those visiting her was evident in her asking each one if they needed something to drink or asking her family if there was enough food for everyone.
Sister McDaniel was an excellent example of a Godly lady whose heart was committed to service. While she loved her family dearly, her love and concern was extended to those who were in the congregation as well. Proverbs 31:29 states, “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all”. This is an apt description of Sister McDaniel’s life of service.
She is known as Granny to this host of grandchildren. She loved her family and served them tirelessly. Many prayers and acts of loving kindness were expressed to them all, as well as countless meals. All the family was welcome to come and eat at “Granny and Pepaw’s.”

While sad to see that Sis. Betty has passed away, I know that she has only changed location to Heaven! Some of my earliest memories are of this precious lady and of attending the little church on Canary as a small child. I always had high esteem for Bro. Harold and Sis. Betty.
My deepest sympathy to the McDaniel family.
Elder and Sis McDaniel was very important in the life of my entire family. My grandparents were married under them, taught the ways of God, taught truth that was passed down to my mother, myself and now my children. One of the memories I have from going to their house as a child, my dad was there helping Elder McDaniel do some work, me and Amy got the bright idea to play on top of some hay bales, we ended up with fire ants all over us! Sis McDaniel rushed us into a bath to stop the itching, then she made us a sandwich that to this day I can still taste, just a sandwich! But it was so good! I love this family to the depths of my heart ❤️and will always remember this sweet, Godly women!
Kathy and Carol Jean, so sorry to hear of your loss of your Mom. Thinking of you during this difficult time.
Sis Mc Daniel- Granny ,
She was an amazing lady that I was blessed to be with … I started going to their house every Saturday when I was 15, to help her clean her house.( those 5 years flew by!) I learned so much from her. She was a prayer warrior, cook, giving person! She made the best meals- her pecan brittle, cakes and breakfasts were top notch!!! She gave to the church family that was needy. She cooked and prepared for Camp Meeting, Youth Camps and who could forget her delicious roast beef sandwiches for the Mexico trips??? She would go to get groceries; and, make sure her family had everything they needed. She was truly a Proverbs 31 lady that I’m glad I got to be around… I’ll see you in heaven, Granny , love you, Liza Jane- Shermi
Sis Mc Daniel- Granny , was an amazing lady. I decided at 15 to go help her clean her house every Saturday…. The memories I have are so cherished! She was a prayer warrior, friend, mentor, guide, cook, played games with us ( and the grandkids) made the most amazing pecan brittle , cakes and any kind of food you could imagine!!!! She taught me so very much just by watching her and being with her those 5 years!!! She was so giving and helped so many people that I couldn’t believe how much she gave without looking for a thank you or return. She gave from the heart. She worked hard for Camp Meeting and Youth Camps. And who could forget the amazing roast beef sandwiches she made for the Mexico trips???? We’d go to the store to get the weekly groceries, she wanted to make sure that everyone had let her know what they needed. She taught me how to take care of family…. Granny, thanks for sharing your life with me and loving me unconditionally…, I’ll see you in Heaven…. Love you, Liza Jane… Shermi
Sister McDaniel was a beautiful saint of God, with a quiet strength about her that I greatly admired. Sending prayers for the McDaniel family.
Sis McDaniel was so special to me and such a help in my early years of living for God.
She took me in and treated me as one of her grand children. The night I received the Holy Ghost I shouted the skin off of HER shin!????????????♀️???? That was 32 years ago this past January!????
I have very fond memories of my early teen years surrounded around her dining room table with Joanie and Julie, and whoever else was with us on those nights, following church services. It’s been pure nostalgia for me when visiting her in these later years at her home.
Thank you for making me feel apart during some pivotal years in living for God.
You have fought a good fight, you have kept the faith, it is now time to claim your reward.
I love you, Sis McDaniel(Granny)!
