Betty “Memaw” Mattison
Betty “Memaw” Mattison, 92, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 23, 1932, to Erminie McDonald Cammack and Van Carter Cammack, in Pineland Texas.
Betty graduated from Beaumont High School in 1949 and began a fulfilling career that left a lasting impact on those around her.
Betty worked at Falstaff Beer Company, where she met her beloved husband, Tom Mattison. They were united in marriage on February 5, 1960, and shared a wonderful life together until his passing. After her time at Falstaff, Betty became a dedicated payroll clerk at Malone & Hyde, where she worked until her retirement.
Together, Tom and Betty moved to Buna, where they embraced a life surrounded by nature. They enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, and dogs. Betty and Tom took great pride in cultivating a not-so-small garden. Her passion for gardening extended to canning, and she loved preserving the fruits of her labor to share with family and friends.
An avid sewer, Betty found joy in creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones. She cherished her time at Cowboy Church on the Rock, where she loved visiting with her “pew ladies” and sharing in fellowship.
Betty had an immense love for her family, as she is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Survivors include her son, Trent W. Mattison and his wife, Trisha; daughter, Carolyn Mattison; grandchildren, Niki Nuchia-Hombs and her husband, Jim; Matthew Nuchia and his wife, Andrea; Ashley Nuchia and her husband, Fabio; Logan Burke; and Cooper Mattison; great-grandchildren, Brock Hombs, Braden Hombs and Rocco Valle; and brother, George Stubbs and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bates “Tom B.” Mattison; parents; brother, Rudy Cammack; and sister, Reba Tsokos.
A gathering of Mrs. Mattison’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.
