Betty Nye
Betty Ann Sorrels Skinner Nye, 76, of Vidor, died Friday, September 5, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois. She was the only daughter of Betha Bell Harris Sorrels and Thomas Milton Sorrels.
Betty was a member of Kishaukee Genealogists from 1998 to 2004, in which she served in various positions as secretary, president, and co-author of the newsletter. Betty was an author and co-author of a four-book series called “Frozen Dead”. She was also a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Lillian Kay Loftin and her husband, Terry; grandchildren, Crystal Pachall and her husband, Lee, Terry Loftin Jr., and Christopher Loftin; great-grandchildren, Alex, Aria and Logan; stepchildren, Doyle Nye, Jr., Robert Nye and spouse, Holly Jacobs; Patricia Nye Howell, and Shelley Whitley; ex-husband, Jimmy Ray Skinner; and his children; Robert Skinner, Christina Skinner, and Eric Skinner. She was preceded in death by parents; ex-husband, Doyle Nye, sons, Jimmy Ray Skinner, Jr., and Johnny Ray Thomas Skinner.
Her graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Old Hardin Cemetery, Old Cemetery Road, Kountze, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

Love you so much! I have admired you so much over the years.
My sweet cousin Betty Ann will be greatly missed. In recent years, we made lots of memories cruising around the world together. I cherish the Harris Family Book she made. It was wonderful, full of pictures and genealogy.
You or a great person and you will be missed and I have a good memory of the day wend I was a kid and raised in pece I love you and I will missed you a lot.
