Betty Ruth Tupper

April 12, 1931 - May 24, 2025

Betty Ruth Tupper, 94, of Village Mills, died Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Oak Grove Nursing Home, Groves. She was born on April 12, 1931, to Clemence Miguez and Elmer John Mehl, Sr., in Port Arthur.

Betty retired from Lee Elementary School as an assistant to the principal. She was an avid member of the Wildwood community and attended church. Betty loved to travel and enjoyed riding motorcycles. She was a Daughter of the Nile and a part of the Shriners, doing a lot of charity work for them, along with being a member of The Red Hats Society. Betty was a social butterfly.

Survivors include her daughters, Jovita Gay Hilliker and her husband, Gregg, of California and Melissa Jan Parker and her husband, Mike, of Arkansas; nephews, David Denman and his wife, Sylvia, Robert Denman, and Kyle Mehl and his wife, Crystal, all of Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and good friend, Jackie Davis.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles William Tupper; brother, Elmer John Mehl, Jr.; sister, Mary Ann Denman; and nephew, Kevin John Mehl.

Mrs. Tupper’s family would like to give their  greatest appreciation to the nursing staff at Oak Grove Nursing Home for their excellent care and love provided.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wildwood Community Church, 5943 FM 3063, Village Mills, Texas 77663.

A gathering of Mrs. Tupper’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Wildwood Community Church, 5943 FM 3063 Village Mills, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 618 Block Street, Port Neches.
