Beverly Ann Routt Johnson, 82, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020. She was born to Lola Estelle Kee Routt and Charles Clifford Routt in Fort Worth.

Survivors include her grandsons, Brian Ogle and his wife, Stephanie, of Cypress and Jeff Johnson and his wife, Jennifer, of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Tabitha Ogle and Judah Ogle; sister, Glenda Vacker, of Beaumont; niece, Carol Ann Hill, of Bedford; and nephew, Jerry Don Johnson, of Lumberton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Donald Johnson; daughter, Lori Carlene Johnson; and son, David Wade Johnson.

A message from the family:

“You couldn’t meet Beverly Johnson and not feel welcome; couldn’t be around her and not feel warm. She experienced much in her life, some wonderful and some very hard, and remained unchanged. In her family, Beverly has always been viewed as a stable, reassuring presence – a force to blow back against the winds that tear things down and keep them ever standing. When struggling, her children – a son and a daughter – could return to her, whatever the reason for their struggles, and be protected. When afraid or overwhelmed, her grandchildren – by birth or by marriage – could call her and hear “you’re going to be okay.” And just by being born, her great-grandchildren were certain to be loved without question and without condition. She loved her family, and her family is what it is because of her.

Through painful and discouraging physical ailments, she remained constantly positive and selfless. Despite the kind of agonizing loss no person should have to endure, Beverly still shined as a beacon of the expression of God’s love, one who courageously showed the reflection of Jesus to the world around her in her smile. It’s impossible to express the hole left in her family and in the world by her absence, but those who knew her in life and will continue to know her in their hearts are fortified by the impression she leaves on them, and likely all would hope to be like her in some special way.

She is loved and will be missed.”

A gathering of Mrs. Johnson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
