Billie Dean Hooper Osborne

September 14, 1931 - August 6, 2025

Billie Dean Hooper Osborne, known as Bebe to her grandchildren, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 6, 2025.

She was born on September 14, 1931, to Laura Brown and William Patrick Hooper in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Dorothy Watts, Barbara Goethe, Betty Moore; her firstborn son, John; grandson, Alden; and her beloved husband, Jack.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Osborne Vallee; son, Thomas William Osborne and his wife, Tanya; daughter-in-law, Thea Osborne, six grandchildren: Michael Vallee and his wife, Jocelyn, Daniel Vallee, Devin Osborne, Joan Osborne, Elliott Osborne, Remy Osborne; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Vallee.

Billie spent her early years in Nashville, Tennessee. She would spend summers in Cookeville, Tennessee with her grandmother and great-aunts and uncles, where she enjoyed being out in the country. She graduated from Hume- Fogg High School in Nashville in 1951. She had a very humble and love-filled childhood. She was the second of four girls raised by a single mother as her father passed away at a young age. When she was old enough, she worked at a local drug store. The pharmacist, Mr. Brown, became like a father figure and actually gave her away at her wedding. She later moved to Memphis to work at a savings and loan and shared an apartment with her sister Barbara. In Memphis, she met Jack while she was dating one of his medical school fraternity brothers. Prior to this meeting, Jack had seen Billie at a pool and told his mother that he “had found the girl he was going to marry.”. This “friend” of Jack’s had gone out of town, and in the meantime, Billie attended a dance that Jack happened to be attending as well. He “swooped in” and danced with her to the song “The Tennessee Waltz”. They were engaged three months later. She and Jack married after a year and moved to Oakland, California where he interned as a physician for one year. They then moved to Galveston to complete Jack’s residency at UTMB.  Soon after, they met with a local group of anesthesiologists: Drs.  Darnell, Bebeau, and Glass, in Beaumont and decided to stay and raise a family.

Billie was a past member of the Beaumont Junior Forum, Mary Howell Garden Club, “Bridgeless” Bridge Club, and Jefferson County Medical Society Auxiliary.

The family thanks Brookdale Assisted Living and all of the wonderful caregivers who loved and took such good care of her, Compassion Hospice and their staff, and Harbor Hospice for their loving tender care in her final days.

Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Osborne were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I love this picture of Billie. I’ve known your family since forever and loved your Mom and Dad as my own. What a treasure of a Momma! There are some people God put in this world to be an example of goodness, especially looking for the good in others. This was the Billie I knew and a true example of what we should emulate. Rest in peace sweet Momma.
