Billy Wayne Barton

October 25, 1952 - August 8, 2024

Billy Wayne Barton, aged 71, passed away on August 8, 2024, in Kountze, Texas. Born in Dallas, Texas to Bonnie Coats Tibbs, he lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and love.

Billy graduated from South Park High School and soon after embarked on a career as an electrician with the City of Beaumont, where he remained for over 40 years. His work not only supported the city’s infrastructure but also allowed him to forge lifelong friendships.

A devout attendee of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Kountze, Billy’s faith was a significant aspect of his life, guiding him in his daily actions.

Billy was a spirited individual who enjoyed the rodeo scene as a team roper. Known for loving a good prank, he cherished moments spent with his family, ensuring laughter was a constant presence in their lives.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra Linscomb Barton; daughter, Jennifer Barton and her fiancée Madison Cole; and son, William Barton. He also leaves behind his half-sister, Buelah Tibbs, his in-laws Curtis Linscomb (Karen), Lori Haas (Chantz), Lisa Prosperie (Ben), Leslie Martinez (Byron Easley), his lifelong friend David Hoyt (Rena), and his honorary siblings the Hale family. Billy had also had numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Coats Tibbs, his mother and father-in-law, Pasty and Gilbert Linscomb, and William “Bill” and Helen Hale who were like parents to him.

Billy’s memory will be cherished as a beacon of joy and kindness in the hearts of those who knew him.

A gathering of Mr. Barton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Broussard’s. A family graveside service will be held at R. S. Farmers Memorial Cemetery, Silsbee.

    So very sorry to hear about Billy. I worked at the City of Beaumont for 36 years and Billy and I were good friends. Billy best friend was Reggie (Reggie was my boss.) we had so many good memories

    I am so sorry for your loss. I went to work in Water Customer Service in ’77 and don’t remember exactly when I met him but I’ve known Billy a long time. Always smiling. Always positive. Lots of fun times at Helen & Bill Hale’s house. Great memories of a good friend.♡
