Billy Wayne Harrell, Jr.
Billy Wayne Harrell, Jr., 54, passed into the arms of his Savior on June 24, 2024, in Weatherford, Texas. Billy was born on December 22, 1969, in Beaumont, Texas to Billy and Laverne Harrell, at an interesting time and place in history to begin his journey in God’s creation. He was everybody’s friend and never met a stranger. He enjoyed school, had lots of friends, good grades, and he loved the band. After graduating from Lumberton High School, Billy pursued some college and earned a Computer Network Administration Certificate. He loved building things and computers. For a time, Billy worked as a machinist for Texas Metal Works in Beaumont, (his father’s former employer) where he was actually able to work with several men who had previously worked with his father. Billy said it was fun to meet these men and work with them. Later, for a time, he worked for another machine shop in the DFW area but then moved to Greenville, Texas to work in the IT department for Wing Industries where he was able to hone his skills and increase his knowledge. Billy loved the small town feel of Greenville. But he later found employment at Tech Trans in Southlake where he was working for over 20 years until his heart attack when he went home to be with his Lord. Billy lived in Azle, Texas most of his years at Tech Trans. He enjoyed living in a small-town environment even though it meant traveling through the Metroplex to get to work. He made friends easily wherever he went. He became indispensable in most things because if he didn’t know something, he would research until he found the answers and was able to bring about a workable solution. Wherever Billy lived, he always found a church to become a part of for friendships and service. He served in the Media Department at his current church, Lifegate Church International. Billy loved people, cared deeply, and loved to laugh. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need and share funny stories in the process to encourage and lift someone’s spirit. He had a servant’s heart and a strong desire to help others. Billy’s heart for God was evident in how he cared for people and showing God’s love to them in practical ways.
Billy is survived by his mother, Laverne Harrell; his sisters, Ky Mannino, Lillian “Lea” Bishop, Ann Spikes; brother-in-law, Ron Spikes; niece, Jessica Spikes; nieces and nephews, Sharlyn and Bryan Whitson, and Katy and John Large; great nieces and great nephews, Kylee Bass, Colesyn Whitson, Jordyn Large, and Grasyn Whitson and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Billy is preceded in death by his father, Billy Harrell, Sr.; his nephew, Matthew Spikes; and his brother-in-law, Don Mannino.

Wow what a beautiful service and I loved the music that was played as it fit you so well. I was so very shocked hearing the news of your passing. It hit your Tech Trans family so very hard. I will miss you walking past my office with your Chick-fil-A and your banter with Susan almost on a daily. Biiiiillllyyyy……Susan and the laugh afterwards. We loved you so very much and thank you for all your help over the last 20 years and I know you are celebrating with our LORD above. You will be missed.
Billy was someone I could talk to about my journey reading the bible with. He gave me great insight and understanding on things from it. I will be forever grateful to him.
I know nothing has made Billy as happy as he ever could be on Earth than when was able to meet face to face with The Lord.
He will be dearly missed and loved!
