Bobby D. Smith
Bobby D. Smith, 92, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Buckner Calder Woods Assisted Living Facility, Beaumont. He was born November 22, 1930, in Pearl River County, Mississippi, to Virginia Duke Smith and Charlie J. Smith. He was a United States Army veteran.
Bobby is survived by his sons, Charles Edward Smith of Houston; and James Mark Smith and his wife, Denise, of Beaumont; sister, Betty Davis of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandchildren, Amanda M. Smith of Houston; Zachary T. Smith and his wife, Lauren, of Midland; Allison A. Proffitt and her husband, Harrison, of Houston; great-grandchildren, Nathan Charles Smith and AnneMarie Adair Smith, both of Midland; stepdaughter, Debbie Littlefield and her husband, David, of Kountze; step-grandson, Jacob Dominick and his wife, Brittany, of Lumberton; and step-great-grandson, Dylan Dominick.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine A. Smith; his second wife, Ann Perkins Smith; youngest son, Robert Thomas Smith; and brother, J.C. Smith.
A gathering of Mr. Smith’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will be on Friday, March 10, 2023, at New Palestine Cemetery, 2336 Palestine Road, Picayune, Mississippi.

What a great guy! It was a privilege to get to know him over the years.
May God frat his family the peace that passeth all understanding.
Bob was a really special person. Every time I went to Beaumont I would go see him at Calder Woods. It hasn’t been too long since I last saw him. He always remembered my name (which was quite a chore) and would tell stories about my husband Loran and him rebuilding our pier many times. Mark, it’s interesting when I heard he had died I knew what I was going to do – to donate and the place I was going to donate to is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He will be missed.
Prayers go out to Bob’s family and many friends. I know he had a passion for his family, Bayvue Methodist Church and members. He was instrumental in enlarging the church and was proud of the work done to make room for members/visitors. God be w/each of you and preserve the precious memories you have. He was loved by many.

He was my uncle Bobby Duke. He will always hold a very special place in my heart. He was the last of a generation that molded me to be the loving, giving, and thoughtful person I am today. I will always remember the crawfish boils at his and Ann’s house in Beaumont along with the huge 8 ball in their front lawn. He is now with my Aunt Jerry and my Aunt Ann in heaven along with Tommy, Dot, Eddie, Bobby,Abi, Phyllis, Buddy and the rest of his family that has already been taken to heaven. I love him and will always miss him and think of him. Praying for Aunt Betty, Mark and Densie, Eddie and all the grandkids… Zach, Allison, Amanda Marie and his great grandkids. I will see you all on Friday in picayune…..love always The Ivy Family and The Johnston bunch…..

Bob Smith was a special IBM Manager and Friend to all the IBMers who were fortunate to know and work for him! We will always remember his laughter and positive attitude that he exemplified both before and after his retirement. He and his great Friend Loran Bosarge are bound to be fishing and laughing together in Heaven. It was a blessing to work for such a great person while at the same time just being Friends! Hope to see Bob again some day and again share stories and laughter.
Sandy, thank you 🙂 you wrote exactly what I was thinking about Bob and my dad (Loran) being reunited, perhaps sharing margaritas. I remember you and Bob and Bob Peacock among Daddy’s “pack” of IBMers. Bob figures in many childhood memories, and I know he was a very important touchstone to my father. I wish his family comfort, love, and peace for their loss.
