Brandon Christian Breaux
Brandon Christian Breaux, 60, a beloved resident of the Hamshire community, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, surrounded by sisterly love. Brandon’s fun-loving personality and huge heart touched many throughout the years as evidenced by the overwhelming turn-out at his 60th birthday party a few weeks ago.
He was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 28, 1965, to Brandon Gilbert Breaux and Donna Jeanne (Sauls) Craigen. A graduate of Hamshire-Fannett, he worked several small jobs before working with his stepfather at the Budweiser plant in Houston, Texas. Then, in 1987, he went to work at the U.S. Department of Energy Strategic Petroleum Reserve, Big Hill Site, starting out as a roustabout and working his way up to Control Room Operator, a position he held until his departure in 2012 after twenty-five years of service. Brandon was an outdoorsman and avid fisherman in his younger years; during his heyday, he and his fishing partner, Jesse, placed in many bass tournaments in the Southeast Texas area. Brandon also had a deep love for the Texas Hill Country, most notably Leaky, taking trips out to the ranch frequently with Steve Miguez, Scott Smith, and the rest of the Shellhammer clan, where socializing with his friends usually seemed to take precedence over deer hunting any day. Although he enjoyed hunting, fishing was his first love and up until late last fall, Brandon could still be seen fishing for bass at local ponds from his golf cart. His ultimate wish was to beat cancer, find him a good woman, and move to the lakes to spend his final days fishing for bass and white perch.
Survivors include his stepmother, Marcy Breaux; sisters, Terri West; Janette Sattler; Lanette Daigle and her husband, Cully; Vickie Yeager; Lisa Van Dorn; and Julianna Garcia and her husband, Hugo; brother, Art Van Dorn; uncle, Courtney Breaux and his wife, Toni; aunts, Phyllis German and Linda Breaux; three nieces; seven nephews; a wealth of cousins and other family members; and an infinite abundance of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brandon G. Breaux, Donna J. Craigen, and Joseph W. Craigen; sister, Sandy Lynn Craigen; maternal and paternal grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles; and his former fishing partner, Jesse Johnson.
A gathering of Mr. Breaux’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, First Baptist Church, 25304 TX-124, Hamshire, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pre-Born, P. O. Box 78221, Indianapolis, Indiana 46278 Donation Link; or Hamshire Volunteer Fire Department, 12393 2nd Street, Hamshire, Texas 77622.
