Brenda Diane Archibald

July 22, 1951 - June 28, 2022

On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, Brenda Diane Dolan Archibald changed her address from her cozy apartment in Kirbyville to join her loved ones already waiting over the rainbow. She had been longing to take this trip for quite a while, especially to see her beloved father, Mike and brother, Dewayne. Diane is finally home.

Heaven’s official roll call may have her listed as Brenda Diane, but here on earth she had quite a few other names she loved answering to including Momma, Nana, Diane, Aunt Diane, other variations of her name, but her favorite was “sugar britches”.

Waiting to greet her are her mother, Bobbie Jean Taylor; father, Mike Jerome Dolan; grandchildren, Garrett Sandlin and Sage Davis; and brother, Michael Dewayne Dolan. And, if Diane finds her lionly courage (and we know she will), she will personally ask Jesus if Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Patsy Cline will be close by.

Those left here to continue telling Diane’s stories and living her legacy are her beloved children, Brandi Diane Pitts and her husband, Clayton, of Kirbyville; John Darren Sandlin and his wife, Erin Rogers, of Groves; cherished sister, Donna Dolan Sammon; grandchildren, Dustin Davis, Kalle Davis, Shelby Davis, Cody Sandlin; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Sophia, Hayden, Gage, Alex, Garrett, Braddix, and Mercy; brothers, David Keith Dolan and Joseph Darren Dolan; and sisters, Michele Dolan Martin, Mary Dolan, and Melinda Dolan; and hundreds of other family and friends across the world.

Born in Maine on July 22, 1951, Diane lived across the country but considered anywhere with a comfortable bed for her and her dog, Sarah as home. You knew she loved you if she called you sugar or baby at some point in the conversation. She told everyone she met she loved them the same, but we knew the biggest piece of her tin-free heart was saved for her family and friends.

A celebration of Diane’s life is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, July 3, 2022, in Kirbyville.

For “sugar britches,” click your ruby red slippers today, but know that we miss you dearly and expect you to greet us with that laugh we all love, wit sharper than any scarecrow, that smile that gave presence to a room, and a big red lipstick kiss print when we join you at home. We’ve heard there’s no place like it.

I miss my dear friend very much. She was always her true, authentic self. That was my favorite thing about Diane. And I could be just me. I always felt at home with her and her family. I loved being around her and her daughter, Brandi. They both will forever in my heart. Thanks to all of Diane’s family making me feel so welcome when my own family did not. Love always, Bette 💛
