Bruce Lever Mitchell

September 6, 1949 - March 10, 2022

Bruce Lever Mitchell, 72, of Winnie, died Thursday, March 10, 2022, at The Riceland Medical Center, Winnie. He was born September 6, 1949, of Oxnard, California, to Dolores Jean Sammann Mitchell and James Lever Mitchell, Jr. Bruce was a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-five years, Joan Mitchell, of Winnie; children, Chris Mitchell and wife, Heidi, of Washington State; Jamie Banaszewski and husband, Matthew, of North Pole, Alaska; Melissa Mitchell, of Washington State; Genny Kovacevich and husband, Kevin, of Dickinson; Jamie Pickens and husband, Rusty, of Texas City; and Brian Cook; ten grandchildren; sister, Cindy Schardt and husband, Mike; best friends, Cindy and Mike Slay; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffery Mitchell.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Mitchell will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Mitchell may be made to Meezer’s Mission Cat Rescue, 6000 Hogaboom, Groves, Texas 77619.

    I worked with Bruce at Beaumont Family Practice. He was truly one of my favorite providers. I was actually talking with my grandmother yesterday about a jar of pickles he had given me years ago. He was a special person. One of a kind. My condolences to his family and friends.

    Dr. Bruce was a friend to the Bolivar Peninsula. I’ve been going to him since he first came to beach, then followed him to Beaumont then back to crystal Beach. A very unique man w/ a kind, funny soul. You were/ are loved muchly by so very many. There will never be another “ Dr. Bruce”, thank you for all the love and laughs. Rest well

    My first introduction to Bruce was when he began operating the Crystal Beach Medical Clinic at the old CBVFD building. He and I became close friends, assisting each other with mutal patients and enjoying a round of golf on a weekly basis. R.I.P. my dear friend….no doubt you will be missed by an infinite number of folks.
