Burl Duane McIntosh
Burl Duane McIntosh, 76, of Nederland, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2025. He was born on Father’s Day, June 19, 1949, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Duane and Doris McIntosh. In December of 1960, Burl and his family moved to Devers, Texas, where he grew up and built lifelong friendships. He then moved to Nederland, Texas in 1973, where he lived until his passing.
Burl graduated from Liberty High School in 1969 and later attended Lamar University, where he studied welding. He was a proud member of the Local 195 Pipefitter Union and dedicated 30 years of service at Turner Fab Yard before retiring in 2014.
In 1984, Burl married Sharon, the love of his life. Together they built a loving home and raised a family to be proud of. Their marriage, which lasted twenty-six years until Sharon’s passing in December of 2010, was a true example of devotion and partnership — a bond that inspired those around them.
Outside of work, Burl was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and spent countless hours in the woods, as well as fishing with his son-in-law. Many of his happiest days were spent at the deer lease, enjoying the camaraderie of his buddies.
Above all, Burl cherished his family. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren, and he devoted his retirement years to traveling, visiting, and being present in their lives. He delighted in sharing stories, reminiscing about old times, and bringing laughter to those around him with his mischievous spirit.
Burl also found strength and fellowship in his church family, where he shared his faith and enjoyed the bonds of community.
He will be remembered for his love of family, his humor, his faith, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
Memorial contributions can be made to Burl’s church home Lamplighter Baptist Church, 2330 8th Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651.
Survivors include his children, Kelly Hammons and her husband, Allen of Nederland, Jackie Goodwin and her husband, Johnny of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and Jamie Russell and his wife, Diana of Spring; grandchildren, Sydney, London, Ireland, Anthony, Elijah, Daisy, Sarah, and Hannah; siblings, Kathie Jo McIntosh and Tommy McIntosh and his wife, Kim; and nieces and nephews, Duane, Daree, Kara, Matt, Leah, and Kaitlin.

Kelly, I’m praying for you and your family .. the grace and mercy of the Lord will comfort and strengthen those that trust in Him. Remember and take joy in the times you had with your dad.
I hunted with Burl for many years near Fredericksburg.
He was a first class guy that would do anything for his friends.
I enjoyed his company, especially his cooking, and sense of humor.
Rest in peace my friend!
