Carol Ann Hopkins Guidry
It is with profound sadness that we share on the evening of December 31, 2024, Carol Ann Hopkins Guidry passed away at the age of 83. Carol Ann lived a life filled with unwavering faith, kindness, and a love that radiated to all who knew her. Her steadfast belief in God and her generous spirit were hallmarks of a life well lived.
Carol Ann was born in Galveston, Texas to Florence and Ernest Cavazos on September 3, 1941, where she proudly embraced her identity as a BOI (Born on the Island). She dedicated much of her career to the Galveston County Tax Office, where she was respected for her humor, compassion, and professionalism. After her retirement, she spent a period in East Texas before returning to the island she loved.
Carol Ann loved to cook, travel, listen to Elvis, and spend time with her family. She took immense pride in celebrating her grandchildren’s academic achievements and supporting their passions, such as excelling in sports. Her warmth and encouragement were the foundation of countless cherished memories.
Carol Ann is survived by her brother, Paul Cavazos and wife, Sheri; daughters, Terri Gerondale and Kelly Kleinecke and husband, Chip; her son, Chris Hopkins and wife, Debbie; her eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Her family will forever hold dear the joy and love she brought into their lives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Cavazos and Florance Cavazos-Schurwon; husbands, Allen Hopkins and Don Guidry; as well as her sister, Nancy Ruhakk.
The funeral service for Carol Ann will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, in Webster, Texas, at 11:30 a.m., under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet at the main building by 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the burial site.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Arboretum in Winnie for their compassionate care during Carol Ann’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, Floor 16, New York, New York in honor of Carol Ann Hopkins Guidry. Her family deeply appreciates your generosity and support in helping to fight this disease.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family whom she loved dearly. We worked together for many years at the Galveston County tax office and she was a wonderful friend. I have thought of her often over the years and so very sorry to hear of her passing. We shared many memories With each other of our children and grandchildren over the years.
