Carol Ohmstede Koshkin

March 10, 1951 - November 13, 2024

Carol Ohmstede Koshkin, 73, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Carol was born in Beaumont on March 10, 1951, the daughter of Ann Lauderdale Ohmstede and Robert “Bob” Lee Ohmstede.

Carol graduated from Forest Park High School in 1969 before attending college at Texas Christian University.

She married the love of her life, Jack Lamar Koshkin, in Beaumont on October 6, 1979. Carol and Jack welcomed two sons, Keith and Robert Craig, in 1981 and 1983, respectively.

Carol showered her sons with love as they matured (possibly) through school, into college, and into adulthood. In addition to Keith and Craig, Carol was the unofficial second mother to countless kids who were welcomed warmly into the Koshkin house for impromptu sports, parties, and gatherings.

Carol also enjoyed hosting talk-of-the-town cocktail and dinner parties, traveling around the world (especially cruises), needlepointing, and watching figure skating. Perhaps her greatest joy was the time spent with her three grandchildren, Sam and Vivienne Koshkin, and Connor Koshkin.

Carol is survived by her sons, Keith Koshkin and Craig (Abby) Koshkin; sister, Jill (Mike) Wentworth; brother, John (Lynne) Ohmstede; grandchildren Sam and Vivienne Koshkin, and Connor Koshkin; niece Hilary Wentworth; and nephew Travis (Agnieszka) Wentworth.

Preceding her in death were her late husband, Jack Koshkin; and parents, Ann and Bob Ohmstede.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MDS Foundation (mds-foundation.org).

A graveside service for Mrs. Koshkin will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2024, at Hebrew Rest Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Carol will be missed by many. She and Jack opened their home to many friends especially during the holidays. They loved our border collie Rocky so got the boys one too. However he wasn’t as smart as Rocky and ate the window sills on the house. We laughed and laughed over that for years. May God give you peace and know Carol is with the love of her life. Keith and Craig,
Jan and I send our condolences to you. We remember Carol as a very sweet lady and we enjoyed having Carol and Jack and the two of you as neighbors during our years in Beaumont. Your mom and dad gave us a warm welcome when we moved into the neighborhood in 1989. Both of your parents were wonderful people, and we are very sorry for your loss.

Truly sorry for the loss of Carol. Such a kind person. We were good friends through high school. Her sleep overs were great times for many of us! Loving the Beetles music & the fondue I was introduced to by Carol. It has become a traditional Christmas Eve dinner for our family. Her Mom made us all comfortable and welcome.
I sadly lost touch; but it sounds like she had a wonderful, full life!
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rest in peace, Carol

Keith and Craig, I am sorry Carol left us too soon. I was looking forward to seeing her on the 24. I loved our cruise trips together and will miss her dry sense of humor. Carol loved you both so much. You made her so happy the years since Jack passed away. She also loved talking about her bonus sons. I will miss my friend but will see her again someday. I will be sure to bring a pitcher of her Cosmos with me. Rest in peace, Carol, till we meet again.
