Carolyn Taylor
Carolyn Taylor, 79, passed away on January 12, 2025. She was born on September 26, 1945, in Port Neches, Texas, to her loving parents Clifton and Jewel Pedigo. Carolyn attended
Port Neches Groves High School. She attended Lamar University to study nursing but found her true calling working with children as the Director of Little Folks Daycare, Redeemer Lutheran Children’s Center and Minister of Children at Calvary Baptist Church.
Carolyn met the love of her life, Gary Taylor, of 58 years. The Lord blessed them with four children, Jason, Brent, Colby and Julie. They were the pride and joy of her life.
Carolyn’s life serving others led her to become loved and cherished by so many. Her greatest desire was to share her love for Jesus with anyone and everyone she encountered. She was a mighty, loving prayer warrior. Carolyn cherished spending time with her family and the love of her life, Gary. She and Gary would spend their days having coffee, admiring their flowers, birds, gardens and most importantly Bible studies. Every day was a gift and Carolyn made sure others knew how much she loved them. She was a cherished “Meme”, confidant, spiritual mentor and friend. Her life verse can be found in Psalm 121.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Jason (Regina) Taylor of Beaumont, Texas; Colby (Natalia) Taylor of Lumberton, Texas; Julie (Gabriel) Cruz of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandchildren, Emily (Keith) Dunnahoo; Mallory (Mitchell) Lowrie; Macy Taylor; Amanda “Mandy” Taylor; Chloe Taylor; Taylor Hilton; Brenton Taylor; Brianna Hughes; Kolt Hughes; Riley Cruz; and two great-grandchildren, Jude and Liam Dunnahoo. Carolyn is also survived by her loving siblings, Mary Lou LeBeau, Nina Field, Jack Pedigo, Berl Pedigo and Jerry Pedigo.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her precious son, Brent Taylor; parents, Clifton & Jewel Pedigo; and one sibling known as “brother”.
In lieu of cut flowers the family asks for plants to create a meaningful lasting legacy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706, or to her beloved Pedigo Cemetery, c/o Jane Moody, 585 County Road 4125, Woodville, Texas 75979.

I met Carolyn about 48 years ago before my first child was born. I think we were pregnant at the same time, along with a few others. And attended the same church for awhile. She was a strong tower to this very nervous first time mother. So thankful to have known her. Prayers for the family.❤️🙏
Carolyn was such a kind-hearted person. I appreciated the energy and love she gave to my children when they were in the children’s ministry at Calvary. And, in 2010, Carolyn came to visit with my neighbor who was in Harbor Hospice. She formed a friendship with her, and led her to Christ just days before she passed.
I met Memer (Carolyn) at Redeemer in June of 1996 she was my Director, a close, close friend, a mentor, a prayer warrior and at times my scolder. She was exactly what I needed when I needed it the most I’ll miss you terribly Memer but I know we’ll walk the streets of gold together one day until then farewell my friend

I met Mrs. Taylor from a daycare mom back in 1998. I knew Mrs Taylor was a special person form the moment I met her. Carolyn gave the best advice to me and always had an ear to listen. When I was wrong she would let me know and give her best advice to help fix it! I will miss Carolyn so much. Prayers to Gary and her children during this difficult time.
To the memory of a sweet and jovial friend. Got to know her and Gary at frequent game nights and Birthday celebrations over the last decade with some of our Bible study group. I will always treasure the friendship with Carolyn and Gary. To Gary stay positive in your faith and your friendship towards me.
My beautiful friend,
You are with Jesus now,

I’m so sad to hear about her passing. My mom and I both worked with Carolyn at Little Folks. She was such a caring person. Loved her so much. Praying for yall for peace and comfort. Miss Johnnie was my mom. She passed in 2021😥
Such a kind hearted, wonderful caring woman. She was special to me as a director and friend as we worked together at Redeemer Lutheran. She will be greatly missed. I’m praying for her family and friends who are grieving her loss.
I grew up as a kid in the Taylor home. Carolyn was very much a super special mom to me. God doesn’t make angels more special than Carolyn. There just aren’t words to describe the love she shared with those she knew, as well as those she didn’t. She had the most special heart, and she and Gary helped shape me into the man I am today. They shared all of themselves, but not until they had shared the love of God first. Carolyn always kept Him first and it was just one of the MANY things I so admired about her. Carolyn the world truly was left a much better place because of you! Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the word of God that you always showed me. You will truly be missed.
Until we see each other again.
All my love and admiration,
Tim
