Chaney Lee Holland
Chaney Lee Holland, 82, of Beaumont, died Friday, January 27, 2017, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born a first generation American on August 30, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Russian Immigrants Baile Lehrman Chandress and Sam Chandress.
Chaney spent her career working for several different auto dealerships in Southeast Texas. While at Peck Henderson Volkswagen, she was named a Fellow of the Volkswagen Guild, from 1969 until 1971, and in 1972 a Master of the Volkswagen Guild. Chaney went on to work for Myron Gray Chrysler and Chevy Land. She retired as an “all-star” from Classic Chevrolet. Chaney was notorious for knowing an auto parts serial number with just a quick glance at the part.
She spent her retirement in tireless service to others. Chaney was an active volunteer in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.). Her leadership abilities were put to use, having served as the President of the Eagles Auxiliary.
Never forgetting her hometown of Memphis, Chaney had been a faithful donor, up until this month, to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She also gave faithfully to the American Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Chaney loved being “Grandma” to her two granddaughters, and “Grandma Grandma” to her three great-grandsons.
Chaney is survived by her son, Michael Holland and his wife, Linda; daughter, Belinda Holland Musgrave; grandchildren, Natasha Musgrave Palenik and her partner, James Cowhig; and Susan Holland Poe and her husband, David; great-grandchildren, Samuel Palenik, Lincoln Poe, and Shepard Poe.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Davie “Dave” Holland; son, David Wayne Holland; sister, Sepia Chandress Levy; and brother, Joseph Chandress.
A gathering of Mrs. Holland’s family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Hebrew Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.
