Charles Albert Ramby
The day before my daddy passed away, he quoted, “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,” Hebrews 9:27. He asked why we all looked so sad as our family gathered around. My dad knew with no doubt that his address was to soon change to Heaven, and he was ready to meet Jesus face-to-face and reunite with Mom and his loved ones.
Charles Albert Ramby went to meet his Jesus on March 27, 2025. He was 94 years old and barely missed his 95th birthday. He was born on April 29, 1930, in Marlin, Texas to Reverend Charles Edward Ramby and Annie Exie Ramby.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life- Estelle Ramby, his sister, Geraldine Collins, and his son-in-law, Terry Daniels.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane and her husband, Richard Dutton. Also, left on earth to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Brooke and Brad Moczygemba of Kountze, and Josh and Tamara Daniels of Lumberton. He is also survived by five precious great-grandchildren, Bree Moczygemba, Kolton Murphy, Braxton Moczygemba, Kyler Daniels, and Oaklynn Daniels.
He worked as a draftsman for the Texas Highway Department for 42 years. He retired in 1990. He took great pride in the many projects he helped develop in Southeast Texas.
Paw loved to be outside. He enjoyed hunting. As he aged and as his sight and hearing failed him, he would often remind us of his hunting trips. I fondly remember going squirrel hunting with him and being admonished for stepping on a stick or crunching leaves even though I was being perfectly quiet!
Daddy also loved to garden. Although planting, watering, and harvesting gave him great pleasure, the thing he liked most was sharing those delicious fresh vegetables with his family and friends. Neighbors would often come home to a plastic bag of veggies hanging on their doorknobs. In his later years, he taught his granddaughter and great grandchildren to garden.
Paw loved his family. He looked forward to family gatherings and cherished their visits. He truly loved me and often bored others with stories of my growing up! He also was sure that he had the best grandchildren and great grandchildren that he could possibly have. His marriage to my mother was the most wonderful love story. They truly loved each other unconditionally even when Mom succumbed to Alzheimer’s.
However, the truest love of his life was Jesus. As I watched him eat his last meal, although he was nearly blind, almost deaf, and could no longer get out of bed, he paused to thank Jesus for his food. He was dedicated to Christ and witnessed for Him at every opportunity. His life was his best witness because he lived daily what it means to be a Christian and to be sold out to Christ.
Although our family’s hearts are broken, we are rejoicing that he is no longer suffering, and he is healed in Heaven with Jesus. My daddy’s wish would be that all would come to know Christ and would join him one day in Heaven. The picture I have in my mind today is Daddy walking those streets of gold he so often spoke about and sticking out his hand to everyone he meets and saying, “Pleased to meet you!”
A gathering of Mr. Ramby’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025, at First Assembly of God, 1055 North Pine Street, Kountze, under the direction of Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Due to unforeseen flooding at Votaw Cemetery, Mr. Ramby’s Interment will be held at a later date.

On behalf of my Dad Harlan Furry I am saddened to hear of Mr Ramby’s passing. I knew him from the highway dept days and my Dad loved working with him. He was a treasured man that my Dad kept in touch with.
As a young man going to the First Assembly Church Brother Ramby was a mentor to me. I don’t ever remember He or Mrs Ramby missing Church. He was a true prayer warrior. He lead a life of true discipleship for Jesus being a servant to all. He is happy and dancing with joy now. Love y’all
I’m am saddened by the loss of this sweet man
As a young woman embarking on my military life and motherhood he and your mom encourage me and wrote to me during Basic Training
It ment the world to me as I struggled adjusting to military life and eventually when i returned home two young kids in tow and recently divorced they were a true shining light for me and my children
I saw him a few times at school events in the last few years and he always remember me and asked about my family
He is in Heaven walking on the streets of Gold praising his Savior

Had sooo much respect for brother Ramby. He was absolutely the BEST Christian man I have ever known. He’s right up there in the apostles category and probably better. Rest in peace dear friend.
Mr. Ramby was a dear friend and always a pleasure to sit and visit. Never a conversation that the Lord and his blessings and .goodness was not apart of. I’m so sorry for you and your family’s loss. Diane, I don’t need to tell you how much your parents loved you, Brooke and Josh. We were blessed to be one of those neighbors that received their friendship and kindness. We heard some fun stories about all of you. I enjoyed walking around the circle with your Mom and Elton enjoyed working with your Dad at First Assembly of God. We always enjoyed our visits with them. He loved God, his family, his church and his friends. We were blessed to have known them. Prayers for all of you.
