Charles Edward Gibbs, Jr.

Charles Edward Gibbs, Jr., 63, of Beaumont, died Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on March 1, 1958, to Elizabeth Latimer and Charles Edward Gibbs, Sr., in Beaumont.

Charles had a great love for Karate. He was a 6th degree Black Belt and enjoyed traveling around the country to compete in tournaments. Mr. Fred Simon was both his mentor and dear friend. Charles attended Lamar University, where Delta Tau Delta fraternity became an important part of Charles’s life. Charles worked in the family insurance and real estate business. Some of his other hobbies included traveling, collecting and sailing.  In recent years, Charles enjoyed playing tournament pool. Personally, Charles Gibbs was a generous man and the first to offer help to anyone in need. He had many lifelong friends and will be missed.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Gibbs; son, Shannon Daniel and his wife, Heavenly, of San Diego, California; and grandchildren, Jaedon Daniel and Justice Daniel.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Gibb’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Time of Sharing to begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
