Charlotte Eddleman
Charlotte Elizabeth Eddleman, 85, of Winnie, Texas passed away at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. She was born in Lufkin, Texas on November 30th, 1938, to Earl Watts and Sadye McMullen Watts.
Charlotte began school in Beaumont, Texas while living in the Edson Hotel where her father was employed. She had fond memories of her mother playing the piano while she tap danced across the ballroom after school. Her family later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School. She then attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was a proud Lumberjack all her life. After she moved to Winnie, she became a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, a charter member of the Women’s Civic Club of Winnie-Stowell, volunteered at the Texas Rice Festival each year, and enjoyed the years she was a member of the Winnie Area Chamber of Commerce. She worked at East Chambers ISD for several years where she made many lifelong friends. She also was a real estate broker in Winnie, and many people knew her from buying their first homes.
Charlotte enjoyed traveling, playing at different casinos, spending time with her friends and family, attending all her grandchildren’s activities, and listening to Willie Nelson’s music. She also loved to shop for family and friends and never went to a sale she didn’t like. She was known in the family for having a gift drawer that later became a gift room. She was always ready to have a Coca–Cola or eat a sweet treat with a friend because she loved being around people. She was a very kind woman to all she met and loved to help anyone in any way she could.
She is survived by her son, Steven Franzen, and his wife, Lisa Franzen, of Winnie; daughter, Rozalyn McGovern, of Winnie; her grandchildren, Kirbi Tharp and her husband Matt Tharp, Shelby Franzen, Mallory Simon and her husband Sammy Simon, Andrew McGovern, and Collin McGovern and his wife Natalie McGovern; and her great-grandchildren, Emme and Maeve Tharp.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Earl and Sadye Watts; her sister, Susan Watts; and partner, Ronald Smith.
A special thanks is extended to all the members of her care team at Pelican Bay Assisted Living Community including Catherine Freddie, Mary Ann Washington, Meghan Casebolt, Makenzi Hill, Shanna Trent; and Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas. Charlotte’s family deeply appreciates the care and kindness they extended to her during the time she was with them.

Carolyn and I would like to extend our condolences to Charlotte’s family. She was a kind and considerate person and joy to be around.
I just wanted to reach out and say my condolences for your mom and that I couldn’t come to the funeral today. It broke my heart to hear she passed. She was one of my best friends and I always loved to see that smile on her face when she’d come up to the front desk🩷 She was a wonderful gal:) Least she’ll always know where her purse is at;)
Enjoyed knowing and loved MS Charlotte. She will be missed . Sincere Sympathy . Candy Nortman

To Ms. Charlotte’s family…I am saddened to hear of her passing. I met Ms. Charlotte at PB when my Mom (Milly) moved in and they became friends about a year ago. (We often thought how they could appear to be sisters in looks.) Every time I visited and spoke to her she broke out into that infectious smile she has. I know your hearts are breaking right now but my prayer is that she is in peace and God will wrap his arms around you and comfort you in the difficult days ahead.
I am so, so sorry. Roz and Steve, you have my prayers and hugs. She was a true friend. We did so many things together through the years. School, Woman’s Civic Club, Rice Festival and just being friends. I will miss her sweet self. My love to you both!
