Chere Leatherwood Johnson, 55, of Buna, died Thursday, September 4, 2025. She was born on July 14, 1970, in Silsbee, to Georgia and John Edward Leatherwood.
Survivors include her children, John Johnson, Jr., and Charles Johnson and his wife, Brittney, all of Vidor; grandchildren, Lexi Collier, Lathan Johnson, Lorelai Johnson, and Lailee Johnson; sisters, Tina Worsham and her husband, Raylen, of Buna, and Misty Leatherwood. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Her cremation arrangements were handled by Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

I remember Cheri as a vibrant, bubbly little girl when I was in High School. She was always a sweet child and was a sweet lady indeed. Grandpa Leatherwood used to hold her in his lap and play with her. She was his favorite grandchild and I only remember him holding one baby as long as I knew him and that was Cheri. I know that she will be welcomed into Heaven by her Father, John Ed Leatherwood and her mother Georgia Knupple Leatherwood as well as her Grandma and Grandpa Leatherwood all of whom loved her dearly. I am sure that all who knew her loved in life and will love her eternally. May you rest in peace in the arms of God, my sweet little cousin.
