Chris Burleson
Christine Lewis Burleson, a kind soul with a love for nature and animals, passed away on May 10, 2025. Born to the late Harry and May Lewis, Chris grew up in Oswego, New York, where she laid the foundations of her caring nature. After attending school in Oswego, she moved to Texas, where she created a life filled with love and compassion.
Chris dedicated two decades of her life as a nurse’s aide, a role that perfectly suited her nurturing spirit and desire to care for others. Her gentle touch and warm smile brought comfort to many.
In her personal life, Chris found joy in her garden, cultivating vibrant plants that reflected her sunny disposition. Her love for animals was evident in her open-hearted approach to taking in stray cats, ensuring that every creature had a place to call home.
Chris is survived by her loving husband, Albert Burleson, of Beaumont, Texas, who was her steadfast companion and partner of 35 years. She also leaves behind stepsons, Albert Burleson, Ricky Burleson and wife, Stephanie; brother- in-law, Ronnie Burleson and wife, Jodi; sister-in-law, Paula Jackson and husband, Ronald; her sister, Mary Clark; and sister-in-law, Marge Lewis, both from Oswego, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family members who will forever cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna May Bartholomew and Peggy Somers and her brothers, Bill Lewis and Ted Lewis, with whom she now reunites.
In lieu of calling hours, the family kindly requests contributions be made to Beaumont Pets Alive, 46718 IH-10 East Winnie, Texas, 77665, an organization close to Chris’s heart.
Through her legacy of kindness and love, Chris touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
