Christina Ellen Painter
With humble acceptance of God’s will we announce the passing of Christina Ellen Painter, 73, on October 24, 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston Texas. She was born on February 27, 1952, to Beatrice Marie Castillo Painter and John Joseph Painter in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Christina was the beloved sister of brothers, Mark (Marquita) Painter, Bill (Patti) Painter, Bruce (Molly) Painter, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Barry (Jan) Painter, of Ragley, Louisiana; and Allen (Jane) Painter of Humble, Texas; and sisters, Dorothy Painter, of League City, Texas and Carol (Brett) Bruno of Houma, Louisiana.
She was the loving adored Mother to sons, Brandon Watler and Joey Watler both of Beaumont, Texas; daughters, Niki (Jeff) Lognion, of Kountze, Texas and Tracy (Scottie) Primeaux of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Christina became “Nana” when her niece, Kara, couldn’t pronounce “Aunt Christina” and then later carried that name as the devoted Grandmother to her Grandchildren, Alexis (Marcus) Watler and Hayden Watler of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Jeffrey (Jessie) Vincent, Ryder (Taylor) Lognion and Jacy Lognion, all of Kountze, Texas; and Dominic (Jasmine) Watler of San Marcos, Texas. Her love and legacy live on in her Great-Grandchildren, Acyn Joseph, Olivia Rose, Jaislyn Brielle, Stella Reese, Adrie Lane, Trait Rae, Rome Akio, River Lane, and Sophie.
Christina had a special relationship with her siblings and their children, her love for them was unmatched and they were an important part of her life. Her memory will be forever cherished by her siblings and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John Joseph Painter, Jr. and Paul Curtis Painter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486. There aren’t words enough to express how grateful the family is to MD Anderson for Christina’s care.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Highland Memory Gardens, 6325 Common Street, Lake Charles. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a celebration of life gathering from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Family Life Center, 3939 Kingston, Lake Charles.
Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas.

Christina always seemed ahead of her time and age. I was only a year behind her but it seemed she was three or more years ahead of me. She had a beautiful smile and I will always have the picture of her smiling in my memories.
