Christine Gaye Steptoe Fortner

June 8, 1969 - July 25, 2022

Christine Gaye Steptoe Fortner, 53, passed away Monday July 25, 2022. Christy was born June 8, 1969, in Beaumont Texas, at Baptist Hospital.

She was a daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her devotion to her family and friends was unmeasurable. She was a 1987 graduate of Vidor High School, enjoying A/A & Refrigeration and welding classes during her high school years.

She attended nursing school at Lamar University in Beaumont and spent a number of years as a nurse at the original Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Christy loved music, movies, and her coffee time with family and friends. And like her father Ronny Steptoe, she loved a great debate. She carried a special love for her grandchildren that called her “Maw”.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Fortner; daughters, Lauren Bridges, Roary Steptoe; mother, Linda Weeks; Stepmother, Glenda Steptoe; grandchildren, Rush Womack and Logynn Bridges; Sisters, Stacy Smith, Laura Ranger; and brother, Robby Steptoe.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ronny Steptoe and grandmother, Lavern Fox.

A Celebration of life with family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Major Events Center, 3255 North Major Drive Suite B, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
