Christopher Todd McKinney

September 27, 1966 - June 21, 2022

Christopher Todd McKinney, 55, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, June 21, 2022.  He was born on September 27, 1966, in Brownsville, to Helen Janet Jackson McKinney and Milton Raymond McKinney.

Chris was the second of four children.  He and his siblings were so close in age that growing up in the McKinney household was never dull!

He had a big soft spot for children and always longed to have children of his own.  He equally loved animals and had a special bond with his loyal lab companion, Charlie.

Chris was a hard worker who spent most of his career in construction, manufacturing, and plant maintenance.  He formed special friendships with his work family at Clearstream Wastewater Systems.  Although the last year was a hard one for Chris (trying to recover from an accident and a number of health issues) he found a lot of joy in family gatherings, keeping in touch with classmates, and dropping a line in Village Creek.

Survivors include his parents, Jan and Pete McKinney of Silsbee; siblings, Shelly Cooper and her husband, Nubbin; Greg McKinney and his wife, Stacy; and Alan McKinney and his wife, Angela; all of Silsbee; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernelle and Jay Jackson and Myra and Reverend Albert McKinney.

A gathering of Christopher’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2022, at First Pentecostal Church, 1420 North 5th Street, Silsbee, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Silsbee.

Chris was such a good-natured person and a great friend to me during our high school years. I remember the countless fun times we took his blue jeep to the hunting lease or to Village Creek. My condolences go out to the McKinney family. I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace.

My heart breaks for what your family is having to endure at a time like this. Life just isn’t long enough to show someone how much we love respect and value their presence in our lives. Just remember God lets you keep all those wonderful memories of your time with Chris. God’s just good that way. Your in my prayers.

For Chris’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him, my heart is broken. Such a loss could not be born without the knowledge that we will see him again in God’s heavenly kingdom.
