Clyde Graves Perkins
Clyde Graves Perkins, loving husband, devoted father, sweet PawPaw, brother, and uncle left his earthly home on January 30, 2023. He was born August 29, 1932, in Beaumont, Texas, to his parents Joseph Andrew Perkins and Louise Monk Perkins. Clyde was named after Clyde Graves from Ringold, Louisiana. He attended Averill Elementary School, Dick Dowling Middle School, and Beaumont High School where he met Barbara Joanne Stockholm, the love of his life. He went on to attend Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, The Keepers of The Spirit. Whoop!
While in college, he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served in the 51st Signal Battalion.
Upon returning home, he briefly worked for the Nichols Company and then in 1960 started his own roofing company with his father. 63 years later Perkins Roofing Company is still going strong! He was a charter member and instrumental in forming the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. He served on numerous committees and became the President of the organization in 1985. He made so many friends and really loved all the people involved in the industry.
He loved to take his family on wonderful vacations and was soon bitten by the Motor Home bug that led him on many trips all over the country and even Canada. He started with a Minnie Winnie and could not pass up an RV dealership without falling in love with something a little newer and longer!
Clyde could tear up, rebuild, and fix anything. We called him “The Termite” because he was especially good at tearing things up, but he never quit until we were satisfied with the project. He was blessed with the opportunity to rebuild his childhood home on Lucas Drive in Beaumont, a home his father built in the early 1920s.
He was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on several committees. He was a member of the HAMACO Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joanne Perkins; his sister, Betty Wells of Beaumont; his daughters, Cindy Perkins Miles of Beaumont, and Julie Toups of Beaumont; his son, David Perkins and wife, Kim, of Beaumont; and his grandchildren, Stacy Walker of Pocatello, ID, Will Singleton and his wife, Michael Ann, of Houston, Zachary Miles of College Station, Peyton Toups of Lubbock, Katie Beaver and her husband, Jeff, of Beaumont, and Ellen Estes and her husband, William, of Dallas; his great-grandchildren, William Singleton, Beau Singleton, Margo Beaver, Gordon Beaver, and Clyde Beaver, as well as many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to his caregivers at Hospice Plus especially Brittni Briggs RN and Erica Anderson. They were so loving and kind to our father. Jesus’s love was expressed through their hearts to ours. We are so grateful.

A gathering of Mr. Perkins’ family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

Clyde will be missed by many. Wonderful sense of humor, and true friend. Loved BBQing with his employees, and treating them fairly. Always anxious to jump into his RV, and travel to parts unknown. Take care, Clyde, we’ll miss you.

The greatest man I ever knew. His passing leaves a tremendous void but I’m comforted by the fact that his legacy and the values he instilled in us will live forever.

On a personal note, I met Mr. Perkins when I started working at Allco. He was always so kind to me when he would come to our office, or I would speak to him on the phone. He was sincere when he always asked about how I was doing. So many times we would talk about what was going on in the construction world. He was a kind man and I know that he will be greatly missed.
