Corwin Fernandes

August 14, 2018 - April 16, 2021

Corwin Fernandes, 2, of High Island, died Friday, April 16, 2021. He was born on August 14, 2018, to Rochelle “Priya” Pires and Amit Paulo Fernandes. 

Corwin enjoyed watching Cocomelon and eating chicken nuggets, mac and cheese. He loved talking on the phone, and his favorite thing to do was video chatting with his dad. When his mother was not looking, he would take her phone and start dialing out her contact list. Corwin was constantly watching videos on YouTube, listening to nursery rhymes and dancing to his favorite music video, Shakira’s Waka Waka. His favorite toy was his Fisher Price Rock-a-Stack, and his favorite candy was M&M’s. When visitors came to the house, he would pull back the curtain and stand on the windowsill to lookout and say hello. Corwin was always generous to lend a hand, for example when the chip vendor would come Corwin would be behind him passing him the chips from the box and saying “Thank you” to the vendor. 

Survivors include his parents; brother, Cristiano Fernandes; uncles, Sanjay Fernandes and his wife, Shanti; Simon Pires; Walter Pires and his wife, Melecy; paternal grandmother, Josephine Fernandes; maternal grandmother, Rosy Costa; and numerous cousin and extended family. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bastaio Fernandes; and maternal grandfather, Anter Pires.

A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of Corwin’s family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 Buccaneer, Winnie, with his interment to follow at High Island Cemetery, High Island.
