Cristeto A. Polvorosa, MD

July 25, 1942 - January 5, 2026

Cristeto A. Polvorosa, MD, 83, of Beaumont, died Monday, January 5, 2026, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on July 25, 1942, to Concejo Aguilos and Cristeto Gonara Polvorosa, in Manila, Philippines.

Dr. Polvorosa and Dr. Aida Canlas met during medical school in the Philippines, then moved to New York during residency. After 10 years of shoveling New York snow, they opted for warmer, tropical weather and being closer to the Gulf, which relocated them to Beaumont, Texas in 1979. For the next 30 years, Cris practiced Urology in Port Arthur.

In Beaumont, Dr. Polvorosa formed deep and meaningful relationships within the local Filipino community. Ever mindful of his roots, he gave back through volunteer work and participated in several medical missions to remote areas of the Philippines.

Dr. Polvorosa found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, golfing, watching boxing, and bowling—later trading bowling for ping pong. One of his greatest passions was tending to his beloved garden. The care and dedication he poured into nurturing it reflected the way he cared for his family and friends. When he wasn’t working in his own garden, he could often be found volunteering at St. Anne’s Giving Field.

Dr. Polvorosa had a tender heart for animals and never turned away one in need of care or a home—often bringing home chickens, rabbits, geese, cats, dogs, and fish, much to his family’s endearing frustration.  Above all, he was a humble, quiet soul who embraced a simple life and found meaning in service and generosity—right up to his final moments.

Survivors include his wife, Aida Canlas Polvorosa; children, Cris C. Polvorosa of Beaumont and Cheryl Polvorosa Adams and her husband, Christopher, of Dallas; grandchildren, Connor Adams and Claire Adams; and sister, Lorna Polvorosa Armesto of New York.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Erlinda Polvorosa LaMarche; and brother, Alberto Polvorosa.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church– the Giving Field, P.O. Box 3429, Beaumont, Texas 77704-3429; the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705; or Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 758589, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8589.
