Danny Wayne Moody

September 21, 1951 - March 1, 2026

Danny Wayne Moody, 74, of Kountze, died Sunday, March 1, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1951, in Galena Park, to Marjorie Anita Craft Moody and Dan Moody.

Danny was raised in Kountze, Texas, where he later returned to build his life and raise his family. He loved all sports—especially football—and was a proud member of the 1968 Kountze High School State Semi-Finalist football team. He graduated from Kountze High School in 1970 and went on to attend Texas A&I University in Kingsville. After two years, he returned home to Southeast Texas and continued his studies at Lamar University before deciding to enter the workforce and begin his career.

Danny dedicated nearly 20 years to Halliburton Services before beginning a second career with BNSF Railroad, where he faithfully worked until his retirement in 2014 as a locomotive engineer.

In 1973, Danny married his high school sweetheart, Donna. Together they shared 52 beautiful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, faith, and family.

Following retirement, Danny was “gently” persuaded to join Donna in serving at church camp, where he became the Dean of Men for senior high camp. After several years of camp ministry, he discovered a deeper calling in missions and disaster relief. Serving others in times of great need became a true passion and a meaningful part of his legacy.

Danny faithfully served Kountze Methodist Church in numerous capacities and was affectionately known as the “chief cook” for the church’s annual chili sale. He had a true servant’s heart that shone brightly in all he did.

Danny loved sharing his passions for gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping with his children and grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. He treasured being a proud “girl dad” to his daughters, Amy and Haley, and becoming “Poppa” was one of the greatest blessings of his life.

Above all, Danny loved the Lord, deeply loved his family and friends, and was devoted to his church community.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Donna Moody; children, Amy Nicole Moody of Beaumont; and Haley Moody Seymore and her husband, Brian, of Huntington; grandchildren, Braylee Alysse Seymore, Griffin Brian Seymore, and Whitlee Marie Seymore, all of Huntington; siblings, William Allen Moody and his wife, Barbara, of Kountze; and Larry Gene Moody and his wife, Linda, of Rusk; brother-in-law, Larry Langston and his wife, Sharon;  sisters-in-law, Sheryl Langston and Jeana Hodge; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kala Carter; brother, Steve Moody; and grandparents, Gladys and James Craft.

A gathering of Mr. Moody’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kountze Methodist Church, 1015 S. Pine Street, Kountze, Texas 77625.

    Donna,
LaJean let me know about Danny. So sorry to hear. I knew all of Dad’s “Ag Boys”. Danny was one of his favorites. I am sure they have already met again. I spent about 15 years in ag going to the ag projects, and going to the Rodeo on FFA/FHA Day. Danny was always good to me. You have a wonderful family, and I assure you that you will meet again. But I am sorry, because it does not make the loss now any easier. Our prayers are with you and your family. Love to all
