Darrel “Skutter” Rothwell

June 18, 1949 - February 1, 2025

Darrel Franklin Rothwell, 75, of La Porte, Texas passed away on February 1, 2025.

Darrel was a veteran of the United States Air Force, he enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling to see the bluebonnets or the changing of the leaves, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Hall Rothwell; daughters, Patricia Rothwell, Amy Rothwell, Kimberly Rothwell; son-in-law, Big Ronnie McMeans; grandson, Ronnie “Buddy” McMeans; sister, Paula Rothwell-Abshire and husband, Tommy; fur baby Ellie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, Darrel “Dick” Rothwell; mother, Mabel “Gitsie” Rothwell; his sister, Donna Rothwell; his brothers, Dennis Rothwell, Boone Rothwell, David Rothwell, Don Rothwell; his nephew, Forrest Rothwell; and his great niece, Taylor Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriner Hospital’s for Children, P.O. Box 947765 Atlanta, Georgia 30394 or American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.

A gathering of Mr. Rothwell’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
