Darrell “Donnie” Fontenot

Darrell “Donnie” Don Fontenot, 82, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, February 5, 2026. He was born on April 14, 1943, to Eula Johnson Fontenot and Delco Fontenot, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Donnie attended Marian High School and was a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was pipeline inspector and avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Delores Bishop Fontenot; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Barbara Fontenot, of Dry Creek, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Wanda Fontenot of Ragley, Louisiana; son, Darrell Fontenot and daughters,  Donna Fontenot Aleman, both of Solana Beach, California; Jeanine Fontenot of Valley Center, California; Sami Fontenot Thibodeaux and her husband, Erick, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Amanda Aleman, Kileigh Cochran, Joe Fontenot, Jason Fontenot, Zachary Clubb, Adam Thibodeaux; two great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Fontenot; and sister and brother-in-law, Sharry and Frank Goos.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sour Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 711 6^th Street, Sour Lake, Texas 77659.

A gathering of Mr. Fontenot’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
