Darren “Big D” Keith Spivey

August 28, 1958 - March 9, 2026

Darren “Big D” Keith Spivey, 67, of Nome, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born on August 28, 1958, in Beaumont to Betty Jo Burke and Gerald Wayne Spivey.

Darren graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School in 1977. He played football, baseball, and competed in track and field. His first job was at Kmart in the shoe department before he went to work for his uncle Dwight doing carpentry work. A few years later, he went to work with his brother, Ricky, for HB Zachary. After a couple of years, he then moved to Biskamp Electric for 22 years. After leaving Biskamp, he went to work for Radley Electric. While at Radley electric he and a group of men all went in together as partners and bought a company called M & D Electric.

He was involved with Twin County youth baseball for many years. He was also involved with Hardin-Jefferson High School athletics booster club. Darren was awarded citizen of the year in Sour Lake, Texas. His favorite things to do were surf fishing at the beach, deer hunting, and of course, baseball. Mr. Spivey really enjoyed his snacks.

He had a heart of gold, and his love could be felt from far away. He was a great son, husband, father, pepaw, brother and friend. Darren was not one that you would call a quitter. He was very dedicated to his family and to his work. He was a great teacher, a great mentor, and a great friend. He was always someone that you could count on no matter what.

Mr. Spivey’s greatest accomplishments include his partnership in M & D Electric and his retirement in 2025

Survivors include his wife, Diana (Martel) Spivey; daughter, Nikki Jo Spivey and her partner, Robert Sirmons, of China; grandson/son, Mason Spivey and his partner, McKenzie LeLeaux; grandchildren, Shelbi Ledet, Tyler Spivey, and Caleb Spivey; great-granddaughters, Addylyn and Emberlyn Spivey; daughter-in-love, Tina Bailey; brothers, Ricky Spivey and his wife, Kathy; Jimmy Spivey and his wife, Valerie; and Carl Spivey and his wife, Cheryl; and numerous extended family, friends and colleagues through the years.

Darren is preceded in death by his parents; son, Darren Keith Spivey II; and great-grandson, Nathaniel James Spivey.

A gathering of Mr. Spivey’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at China Cemetery, China.
