Darren “Big D” Keith Spivey
Darren “Big D” Keith Spivey, 67, of Nome, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born on August 28, 1958, in Beaumont to Betty Jo Burke and Gerald Wayne Spivey.
Darren graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School in 1977. He played football, baseball, and competed in track and field. His first job was at Kmart in the shoe department before he went to work for his uncle Dwight doing carpentry work. A few years later, he went to work with his brother, Ricky, for HB Zachary. After a couple of years, he then moved to Biskamp Electric for 22 years. After leaving Biskamp, he went to work for Radley Electric. While at Radley electric he and a group of men all went in together as partners and bought a company called M & D Electric.
He was involved with Twin County youth baseball for many years. He was also involved with Hardin-Jefferson High School athletics booster club. Darren was awarded citizen of the year in Sour Lake, Texas. His favorite things to do were surf fishing at the beach, deer hunting, and of course, baseball. Mr. Spivey really enjoyed his snacks.
He had a heart of gold, and his love could be felt from far away. He was a great son, husband, father, pepaw, brother and friend. Darren was not one that you would call a quitter. He was very dedicated to his family and to his work. He was a great teacher, a great mentor, and a great friend. He was always someone that you could count on no matter what.
Mr. Spivey’s greatest accomplishments include his partnership in M & D Electric and his retirement in 2025
Survivors include his wife, Diana (Martel) Spivey; daughter, Nikki Jo Spivey and her partner, Robert Sirmons, of China; grandson/son, Mason Spivey and his partner, McKenzie LeLeaux; grandchildren, Shelbi Ledet, Tyler Spivey, and Caleb Spivey; great-granddaughters, Addylyn and Emberlyn Spivey; daughter-in-love, Tina Bailey; brothers, Ricky Spivey and his wife, Kathy; Jimmy Spivey and his wife, Valerie; and Carl Spivey and his wife, Cheryl; and numerous extended family, friends and colleagues through the years.
Darren is preceded in death by his parents; son, Darren Keith Spivey II; and great-grandson, Nathaniel James Spivey.
A gathering of Mr. Spivey’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at China Cemetery, China.

Very sorry to hear about Darren. Prayers to the family. I regret I missed the services as I just found out about this. He was a tremendous man.
We are so saddened by the loss of Darren. We so enjoy our visits with him and Diana at the beach, the barn, and the many trade days we attended. We loved his laugh, his lovable spirit, how kind he was, and his great BBQ! He was the best kind of friend and we will miss him terribly.

I am so thankful to have known D for most of my life and blessed to have worked with him the last ~17 years of his career. I am better because of it. WE are better because of it.

You were probably one of the most genuine, hardworking, fun loving, sincere, honest, integrity filled, men that I have EVER met. You loved BIG and you shared your JOY with everyone in your realm! From baseball fields, to football fields, to track meets, to concession stand duties, to Gumbo Cookoffs, to BBQ’s…and everything in between. YOU were there ready to help in any way YOU could to be a service to ALL. The world was a better place because of YOU! I know that you and Keith are having a great reunion! I love you my friend. I am proud to say that YOU touched my life for the better ALWAYS! Go rest high HIS good and faithful servant! My love to everyone in your family

Uncle Darren I will miss ur crazy jokes and your sense of humor an ur laugh. I always new if I needed any kind of advice all I had to do is call an u would listen then tell me what you thought I should do.

I remember back in high school Darren always having a smile on his face. He got along with all of our classmates. His kindness was felt by all. Rest in peace. Till we meet again.
