David Ray Patterson
David Ray Patterson, 86, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2025. He was born December 31, 1938, in Galveston, to Harbert Patterson and Iva Belle Harding.
David dedicated over 40 years of service to DOT and Trunkline before retiring to enjoy life on the road with his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Patterson. Together, they spent many joyful years traveling across the United States in their motorhome, creating lasting memories with dear friends before settling at their favorite place—the lake.
A man of quiet strength and generous spirit, David was always ready to lend a helping hand. He found joy in tending to his garden, relaxing in the company of his late dog Lady, and being surrounded by his loving family.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Patterson; his children: Eddie Patterson and wife Lisa, Glen Patterson, Carrie Ott and husband Robert, Kathy Rogers and husband Ben, and Donald Patterson and wife Natasha. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Mandi Landry (Chad), Amber Boyd (Aaron), Justin Brown, Ryan Kindell (Melissa), Christina Rogers, Ashlee Richard (Brent), Payton Patterson, Nicole Belote (Bryan), Dawson Patterson (Alexis), and Denise Martinez (Johnny). He was a proud great-grandfather to Joshua, Lexi, Marleigh, Slade, Casen, Kadence, Luke, Lilley, Dax, Tinsley, Jace, Kimberlyn, Rylan, Emmie, Colt, and Brody.
David was preceded in death by his first son, David Ray Jr, his parents, and siblings.
His family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace and forever remembered for his kindness, his love for the simple pleasures in life, and the strength of the bonds he built with those around him.

David, truly was such a great friend. So sad he had to leave all who loved him so much. My love and thoughts are with his entire family and friends.
A great man, a great father, a great husband, a great uncle, so happy that he was in our family and brought so much joy and happiness to everyone. We will miss you, uncle DavId.

I worked with Dave from 1975-1980 at Stingray Pipeline in Johnson Bayou. He was a great Sr. Operator to work for, and I always enjoyed his stories about Alvin, Texas and Dyersburg, Tennesee. So very sorry for OUR loss…
Hey Ray, worked with you and dave at stingray. Been a long time ago. Hope everything is going great for you. And I too, am sorry for our loss.
Our family just won’t be the same without all our aunts and uncles. Uncle David will be missed. I will never forget his voice or his humor.
