David W. Phelps
David W. Phelps, 76, of Winnie, died Wednesday, April 15, 2026. He was born to Mildred Silcox Phelps and Virgil Roy Phelps on June 14, 1949.
Survivors include, wife, Linda Phelps of Winnie; son, Scott Phelps and his wife, Portrit, of Bronson; daughters, Tammy Villejoin and her husband, Junior, of Winnie; Melissa Bruno and her husband, Eric, of Vinton, Louisiana; Mandy Phelps of Sulphur, Louisiana; grandchildren, Christopher Phelps and his wife, Harmony, of Zachary, Louisiana; David Phelps of Houston; Dustin East and his wife, Jennifer, of Hamshire; Kayla Veronie and her husband, Kyle, of Conroe; David Tyler Bruno and his wife, Leah, of Vinton, Louisiana; Kinley Abshire and her husband, Timothy, of Vinton, Louisiana; Lauren Bruno and her fiancé, Ryan Malone, of Vinton, Louisiana; Kenneth Phelps of Singer, Louisiana; Tisha Montgomery of Sulphur, Louisiana; Kali Ardoin and Hayden Ardoin, both of Sulphur, Louisiana; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Virgil Phelps, and son, Craig Roy Phelps.
David was a passionate NASCAR fan. He loved racing cars and drag racing. As a lifelong mechanic, he enjoyed working on race cars. Mr. Phelps also greatly cared for animals.

A gathering of Mr. Phelps’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Road, Winnie. His funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery, Hamshire.
