Dean Adams

June 20, 1958 - July 3, 2022

Dean Adams, 64, of Sour Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on June 20, 1958, to Sherry and Ronnie Adams, in Beaumont, Texas. Dean worked for Entergy for 40 years and was the Senior Grid Manager of Transmission, before retiring in 2019. After retiring, he joined the retirement fleet at Reneau Farms driving trucks and tractors. He was an Eagle Scout and loved spending his free time at the Masonic Lodge in Sour Lake, Texas. He loved visiting the Hill Country and hunting with his son, Jesse, and his family in Llano, Texas. Dean loved his nieces and nephews as his own children and he never missed an opportunity to be with his great-nieces and great-nephews, because he loved them with every beat of his heart.

Even though he didn’t have a brother, Dean considered Robert Minick his brother. They started working together at Bill’s Travel Trailers. They spent time fishing, golfing, playing tennis, and having an occasional (or frequent) glass of wine, along with his sister, Lynda Minick.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Chesnutt Adams; son, Jesse Wade Adams; mother, Sherry Adams; sister, Laurie Adams; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lynda and Robert Minick, Patsy and Ernest Magee, Kaye and Ron Spell; brother-in-law, Willie Kindon; niece, Amanda Reneau and her husband, Will; nephew, Matthew Minick and his wife, Kaltrina; niece, Angela Magee and her husband, Brian; nephews, Mikel Magee and his wife, Alissa; Charles Magee and his wife, Brittany;  Ronnie Spell and his wife, Kayla; Jon Spell and his wife, Jessica; niece, Jeri Kindon and her husband, Stephen; nephews, Adam Kindon and Aaron Adams; great-nephew, Eli Reneau; great-niece, Ella Reneau; great-nephew, Connor Minick; great-nieces, Macee Magee and Josie Magee; and great-nephews, Erik Spell and Max Magee.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Adams; sister, Beth Kindon; and grandparents, Carl and Hershelle Sawyer and Hoarce and Lillian Adams.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Adams will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas. Dean’s family asks that you come as you are, as Dean was a laid back guy. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas.

    I first met Dean when I went to work for Gulf States
    in the early 80’s while we were all at 11th street. I can still see him walking through the Substation wearing a gold bracelet and with that smile on his face.. He will be missed by all. May God hold his family in the palm of his hand.

    As others have mentioned, Dean was quite a guy. I worked with Dean for many years.
    I respected him, learned so much from him, and would always feel comfortable speaking with him about most anything, work related to not. Dean was solid, a great decision maker and leader.
