Debra Kay Cox Polk
Debra Kay Cox Polk, 64, of Beaumont passed Monday August 16, 2021, at Christus St Elizabeth-Southeast Texas in Beaumont. She was born September 19, 1956, to Bonnie Elizabeth Davis and Marion Johnson Cox, of Beaumont. Debbie will be most remembered for her infectious laughter, her kindness, giving nature and nurturing spirit. She for over 30 years was involved in many local civic organizations including Symphony of Southeast Texas where she served as Chairman of Symphony of Trees. She was active in Junior League and many others. She spent the last 10 years combining her talent for planning and decor as the event coordinator at Lamar Institute of Technology, and her LIT family was a source of much happiness. She loved family, people, planning and giving of her talents to others. She was a devoted mother and Mimi. She always wanted the best for those around her. She volunteered at Shorkey center, Some Other Place and more for many years.
Survivors include her son, Joey Polk and daughter, Kimberly Polk of Beaumont; grandchildren, Tobyn, Paisley, Layke, & Maycee; parents, Marion and Bonnie Cox of Beaumont; father of her children and dear friend, Drew Polk of Beaumont; sister, Patricia Fertitta and husband, Jerry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nieces and nephews, CJ & Tara Fernon, JR (Jake), Stephanie, Charissa & Matt Fertitta; and brother-in-law, Chris Fernon; aunts, cousins, and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Pam Fernon and her niece, Kelly Fernon.
A gathering of Ms. Polk’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. and her memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday August 22, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 700 North St Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

My condolences to the family and friends of Debbie. She was closest to my younger siblings Brooksie and Chuck. I last saw her at Chucks Memorial last May. I so appreciated she was there. I could do be at her memorial but she will forever be in my heart. God Bless and Rest In Peace sweet lady.

The Cox family lived across the street from us when I was in high school. Debbie was in grade school when we moved in. She was a great friend to all of my sisters Robin , Sally,Mary And Susie . My “ baby “ sisters, Glenna and Betty, were over 10 years her junior and were cared for often by Debbie and Sally- She was a constant in our life . Decorating for Betty’s wedding at the last minute, solving the world’s problems with Robin or collaborating on life issues with Charlie, my brother. She was considered our family and we will miss her like family. Our heartfelt love to her sister, children, nieces and nephews!

Kimberly and Joey,…I was so saddened to hear about your Mom. I’ll always remember all the good times that we’ve shared. I won’t be able to be there for her service as I am at Kelly’s for two weeks, but I will be keeping you all in my prayers. May God’s love and peace be with you. God bless you!!!
Thank you Mrs. Clark. I have such great memories from my childhood of my mom and you. She loved you and your family so much and still spoke of you often. There will be a livestream on zoom if you’d like to attend from afar. You were a very large part of her life as well as mine. ❤
It is hard to find words to express the loss that is now a part of so many lives, including mine. Debbie was so loved, talented and admired. I have never known anyone else that could look at a pile of stuff and turn it into beautiful arrangements and table decorations. We could visit for hours, then realize we never talked about anything but our grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and was so proud of them. I, like so many, will miss our friend forever. Love and prayers for her family she loved so very much.
Debbie will be missed by so many friends and family. Her talents were enjoyed by so many! Her love and friendship were so special to so many. She is a friend that we will miss so much. Joey and Kimberly, your mother was so very special and loved by so many. God bless you all.

Debbie was like family, but close enough . Her sister is married to our brother. The few times I visited with Debbie found her to be a pleasant personality. I wish I could have known her better. She was one busy person and one to be emulated for all the good she did. Debbie, you look so beautiful and happy in your picture, just the way you must look and feel in the arms of the Savior today.
I wish I could find the words that would wipe away all tears and pain you all are feeling at the loss of such a wonderful person. We question why such things like this has to happen and yet we can never find the answer. However, I do know that God says he will never leave us or forsake us and that we will under stand it by and by. I pray you feel the loving arms of Jesus as he embraces you all during this difficult time. I will miss my cousin deeply.
