Delbert Louis LeJune, Sr.
Delbert Louis LeJune, Sr., 79, of Port Arthur, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026. He was born to Goldie Phelps LeJune and Louis LeJune on October 23, 1946, in Beaumont.
Survivors include, daughter, Renee Thibodeaux and her husband, Laine, of Lafayette, Louisiana; son, Bubba LeJune and wife, Paula, of Fannett; son, Coby LeJune and fiancée, Candice Byrd, of Bridge City; grandchildren, Jessica Brown and her husband, Kevin, of California; Whitney LeJune and her wife, Kelsey, of Mauriceville; Blake LeJune of Fannett; Haley LeJune of Indiana; great-grandchildren, Presley Gordon, Preston Gordon, Aiden Brown, Adelyn Brown; and sisters, Lyvonne Simon and Beth Day.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sensat LeJune; sister, Donna Leger; grandchild, Bryce; and his parents.
Delbert LeJune began his drumming career in his teenage years, performing in rock and roll bands throughout the Golden Triangle area. It wasn’t long before he reconnected with his Cajun roots, joining Andrew Cormier & The Rambling Aces, where he would help shape the sound of traditional Cajun music for decades to come.
For over 20 years, Delbert and the band held a regular presence at the Rodair Club, becoming a staple in the regional music scene. Their talent and authenticity carried them far beyond Southeast Texas, including a prestigious invitation to represent Cajun culture at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. during the Carter Administration.
Their musical journey also included performances at the World’s Fair in New Orleans, Louisiana, and many appearances at the Folklife Festival in San Antonio, where they proudly shared the rich traditions of Cajun music with diverse audiences year after year.
In recognition of his outstanding talent and lasting contributions to Cajun music, Delbert LeJune was honored with induction into the CFMA Hall of Fame in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
A gathering of Mr. LeJune’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery, Hamshire.

Thoughts and prayers for the family Mr. Delbert was a wonderful man and a great musician. Loved seeing and listening to him at the old Rodair Club. Heaven has gained another fine musician in it’s Heavenly band.
I met Delbert over 50 years ago.
Knew he was the best Cajun music drummer in the business. His sound and timing will not be duplicated. Go rest
