Delia Marie Montes
Delia Marie Montes, 83, of Longview, formerly of Beaumont, died Friday, August 2, 2024. She was born on October 13, 1940, in Port Arthur, to Josephine Lopez and Abelardo Cantu.
Delia’s contribution to our community will not be forgotten. Her dedication to teaching CCD at church and her active participation in prayer meetings truly exemplified her commitment to faith and service.
Delia was also an incredible presence at school events, from working at carnivals to making tamales for fundraisers and sewing costumes for the drill team. Whether cheering at drill team or band competitions, her support was unwavering. Her love for football on weekends was just another way she connected with her family and friends.
Delia was not just a mother and wife; she was a wonderful listener and a comforting shoulder for many. Her passion for cooking and baking, especially her delicious cakes, was evident in the success of her catering business after her children married.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Fred J. Montes, Jr.; children, Alice Montes; Frederick Montes, III and his wife, Donavie; Margaret Wineinger and her husband, Paul Andrew; and Paul Montes, Sr. and his wife, Cyndi; grandchildren, Delicia Rocha; Christopher Montes and his wife, Clansi; Carlos Montes and his wife, Lorena; Eric Montes; Rachel Morie and her husband, Murry; Andrew Wineinger and his wife, Esther; Jarred Wineinger and his wife, Amber; Paul Montes, Jr., and his wife, Roni; Frederick Montes and his wife, Jandy; and Angelica Stevens and her husband, Travis, Sr.; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Juan Cantu and his wife, Gabriel; Josie Solis and her husband, David, Sr.; and Abelardo “Al” Cantu, Jr.
She was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Carmen Simon.

A gathering of Mrs. Montes’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with her Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Avenue A, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Her life has enriched and blessed our lives. Met her and her family when I was in Junior High school. She and her family are the best I have ever known. Barbi and I will miss her dearly. All my love and condolences to the family.
Delia, was an absolutely beautiful lady. She was a beautiful spirit, and know that she had a tremendous Love for our God. Her heart was so full of Love for her family and her friends. The first time we meet Delia was to talk to her about making our daughter wedding cake 18 years ago. She had such an amazing talent baking and always delicious. We always enjoyed visiting with Delia over the years. Alex and I will miss you. May you RIP .
