Della Elizabeth Murff

Della Elizabeth Murff, 81, of China, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020. Originally from Henderson, she was attending business school in Nacogdoches when she met and fell in love with Robert Murff. Della became the rock on which her family was founded, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Della is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Robert W. Murff; daughters, Nancy Murff, of Corpus Christi and Melissa Gallier and her husband, Ernie, of Nederland; son, David Murff and his wife, Diana, of Houston. Della was affectionaly known as MeMaw by her grandchildren, Michael Cody Leblanc and Elizabeth Leblanc, Robert Leblanc and Desiree Mata, Virginia Poimbouef, Alexander Murff, Maxamillian von Rettberg, Alexis von Rettberg, Michell and Patrick Riley, Rebecca and Kaitlyn Hebb, Matthew Gallier, Travis Gallier, and Brixie Gallier; and great-grandchildren, Paxton Riley, Madyson Christan, Macey Leblanc, Maximus Leblanc, and Forest Leblanc, who all loved her dearly.

Della is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and J.T. Lee; and sister, Judy Leidtke.

She was always involved with her children’s and grandkid’s school and extracurricular activities. Della loved attending band performances, dance team competitions, and all manner of youth sports-there was no distance too far or time too busy if she could watch her kids and cheer them on. As an avid baseball fan, when her Astros were playing, nobody better get in front of the TV or the radio-Go Astros was her favorite cheer! She was proud of her eighteen years working at Walmart and volunteering at Baptist Hospital with Robert after she retired. She was constantly recognized by people all over Beaumont who recognized her smile and friendly personality as that “lady from Walmart”.

Alzheimer’s took you away far too soon. Love you always and forever Mama.

A gathering of Mrs. Murff’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
