Dennis Votaw

February 19, 1944 - November 28, 2021

Dennis Wayne Votaw, 77, of Fannett, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Mid Jefferson Extended Care Hospital of Beaumont. He was born February 19, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Nancy Taracko Votaw and Forrest Votaw.

Dennis was a United States Navy veteran. He retired from Southwestern Bell as a telecommunications technician after thirty-four years of service and he spent some time as a motorcycle safety instructor. Dennis was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hamshire. He was fluent in Spanish and taught Spanish Sunday school at church.

Dennis was a master gardener and he always enjoyed sharing his crop. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandpa.

Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Beth Votaw, of Fannett; sons, Britt L. Sutton and wife, Tashia, of Groves and Ronald Charles and wife, Michelle, of McKinney; daughters, Denise Caples, of Vidor; Desiree Votaw, of Lewisville; and Nancy Hollis and husband, Richard, of Southlake; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Votaw’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 25304 TX-124, Hamshire. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.

    I can still remember our deep sea fishing trip back in the ’50’s with my dad, like it was yesterday. So sorry to lose such an awesome cousin, but we can rest assured that he is at peace and with the Lord now.
