Diana Lee Harvick
Our beautiful and gentle mother, Diana Lee Harvick, went home to Heaven on Sunday February 1, 2026, at the young age of 75 years. After years of battling Alzheimer’s disease, she is finally at rest and whole again with her Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves behind her daughters: Jennifer Bardwell and her husband Aaron of Nederland, TX; Susi Hubbard of Nederland, TX; and Audra Bush and her husband James of Lumberton, TX. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: James Ryan Bardwell and his wife Laura; Joel Bardwell and his wife Shay; Jordan Bardwell and his wife Catherine, Cyle Hubbard and his fiancé Allie, Jessica Hubbard, Ashley Bush, Anthony Gutierrez, and Abigail Gutierrez. She is also blessed to have had several great-grandchildren to enjoy: Lilly, Melody, Violet, Callum, and Sadie…with Owen on the way! She will also be missed by her loving brother Gary Chesnut and his wife Shelby of Alvarado, TX, along with her nephew Wyatt Chesnut and his wife Jennie and niece Rachel Santiago and her husband Chris, and many other family members and dear friends and co-workers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin James Harvick and her parents.
Diana was born to Barbara Garrie Chesnut and Robert Lee Chesnut on March 7, 1950, in Hobbs, New Mexico. When she was still very young, they moved to south Texas where she and her brother grew up in Alice and Falfurrias, TX, participating in Rainbow Girls and G.A.’s and learning to play the piano, trombone and French horn. She also participated in high school poetry and theater and performed in her Senior play. She later graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce, TX with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and English, also earned a Texas Teaching Certificate.
After becoming a wife and mother, Diana worked very hard to help provide for her daughters and to take care of her home, taking many jobs as a substitute teacher, a secretary for a private investigator, working at the Jefferson County Clerk’s office, and eventually working for Constable Jeff Greenway in Precinct 7 of Jefferson County for many years before she retired. She taught piano lessons and accompanied many soloists and ensembles at UIL contests for many band students. But her true love was always music, and she played the keyboards and sang with many professional rock and country music groups, opening for Joe Stampley, Eddie Raven, The Bellamy Brothers, Johnny Rodriguez, and “The Porter Wagoner Show”, John Anderson, and Sammy Kershaw. In later years, she purchased her own home and remodeled it largely by herself. Diana loved traveling and made a trip to Alaska and to Europe. Because her father was a Mason, she also became involved in the Order of the Eastern Star and served in the Nederland and Groves chapters. She was Worthy Matron for the Nederland chapter in 2004-2005. She also enjoyed sewing clothing for herself and for her daughters, needlework, cooking and gardening and lots of other crafts. There wasn’t anything she could not accomplish.
A gathering of Mrs. Harvick’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches. I went to Falfurrias HS with Diana. Lost track of her when we all went off to college. Sounds like she had a beautiful life and family! So sorry for your loss.
My deepest condolences to the family. She fought the good fight.
We are so sorry to hear of your sweet mom’s passing, but so glad to know she is with Jesus! That’s a celebration! We are praying for your family these weeks and months ahead!
