Diona grew up in Port Arthur and graduated from Bishop Byrne High School where she was a member of the Colleens Drum and Bugle Corp.

Diona was a longtime resident of Groves. She was an Avon representative for over forty-five years and received numerous awards for outstanding sales. Diona was an amazing cook, she was famous for her baked goodies, especially her brownies that she brought to church functions and family get togethers.

Diona was a faithful member of Bethel Methodist Church, and she loved her church family dearly. She was always ready to help anyone who needed it and recently donated new socks for the guys participating in a drug rehab program. Diona shared her love of the Lord with not only those she knew but also with strangers who she felt needed love and encouragement. She helped with Vacation Bible School, youth church camp, and served on the communion and flower committees. The last thing she and Don did together at the church was put Blessing Bags together for the homeless.

Diona had a green thumb and she loved gardening and watching birds from her special spot, her porch swing. The hummingbirds in Groves definitely knew her, she kept several feeders out for them along with other birds she fed and enjoyed. She was affectionately known as “Granny D” to her grandkids and “D” to her great grandkids.
