Donald Bell

November 8, 1944 - October 28, 2021

Donald Burtus Bell, 76, of Friendswood, died Thursday, October 28, 2021. He was born November 8, 1944, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to Vera Pearl Hopper Shaw and Leoniel S. Shaw.

Donald graduated from High Island High School in 1963. He held the state record for high hurdles for many years. Before retiring, Donald worked for the state of Texas as a parole officer for twenty years. He enjoyed cooking and listening to southern gospel music. Above all else, the most important part of his life was his family.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Bell, of Friendswood; children, Michael Bell and wife, Cynthia, of League City; Aaron Bell and wife, Tammy, of Pearland; Ethan Bell and wife, Krista, of Houston; Tanna Haney, of Lawton, Oklahoma; Dylan Bell and wife, Jennifer, of Dickinson; and Christian Bell, of Friendswood; eighteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Mary Alice Kole and husband, Louis, of Humble; and nieces and nephews, Jonathan Kole; Julie Cucco; Sarah Garza; and Johnny Nuber.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Annette Nuber.

Cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.

Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of one’s choice.
