Dorothy C. Fox

August 23, 1934 - March 30, 2025

Dorothy C. Fox, of Nederland, was called to heaven on March 30, 2025. She was born August 23, 1934, in Beaumont, to Harrell and Connie Coulter.

Dorothy, known lovingly as Mimi by her grandkids and great grandkids, centered her world around family. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones, and she cherished every gathering. Whether it was a simple errand in Nederland or an unforgettable trip to New York for her 80th birthday, Mimi was always all in.

Her grandkids have fond memories of nights spent at her house, making pallets on the floor and watching movies—sometimes classics like Out of Africa, even if that wasn’t their first choice. But in the end, it never mattered to them what they watched; they just loved being with their Mimi. Summers were filled with beach trips alongside her daughters and grandkids, and as her family grew, she remained as devoted as ever—cheering at football games, soccer tournaments, and dance recitals. She was, without a doubt, the best Mimi in the world.

Dorothy was feisty, not shying away from spirited political banter when in the mood, but always ending it with her big, beautiful laugh—the kind that could instantly dissolve any tension. That laugh was contagious, lighting up every room she entered. She also had a deep love for the simple joys in life—neck rubs, warm socks, good coffee, and crossword puzzles. And she sure did love her cats.

Strong and independent, Mimi led by example, proving to her family that they, too, could stand on their own. Mimi’s love was unwavering, her spirit unbreakable, and her laughter unforgettable. She was a gift to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Terri Fox Nelson, Tracy Fox Mistrot and husband, Bobby, and Tami Fox Nunez and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Ashley Nelson Burk and husband, Henry, Katherine Nelson Davis and husband, Scott, Elizabeth Nelson, Patrick Jones, Bucky Jones and wife, Brittany, Houston Jowell and wife, Evangeline, Larry “Boo” Nunez and wife, Brittney, Cary “Care Bear” Nunez and wife, Beth, and Julian “JuJu” Nunez and wife, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Mae Burk, Tessa Burk, Nolan Burk, Austin Davis, Andrew Davis, Grace Davis, Eric Jones, Killian Jones, Aiya Jones, Alijah Jones, Carson Harvey, Carson Nunez, Jordi Nunez, Benji Nunez, and Tripp Nunez; sister, Jimmy Jo Larkin and husband, Joe; brother, Joe Nedley and his wife, Carla; and sister-in-law, Marion Marlowe; a host of nieces and nephews; and her furbabies, Sissy, Cali, and Sandy.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Marlowe; and son-in-law, David R. Nelson III.

Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ms. Fox’s honor may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
