Dorothy “Dottie” McKinley
Dorothy “Dottie” McKinley, 87, of China, Texas, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born on January 7, 1937, in China, Texas, to Ruth Ella Barnett and Claude Weeks. Dottie’s passion for caring for veterans as a nurse and her kind, giving nature in caring for others as a mother, grandmother and friend was evident in her everyday life. Her love of family and friends was felt by everyone whose path she crossed, and she never failed to share her faith with others whenever there was an opportunity.
Survivors include her husband, Bill McKinley, her son, VerNeil Mesecher Jr. of Fort Worth and grandson, VerNeil Mesecher III of Seattle.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joey Allen.
A coffee reception for Mrs. McKinley will be 10:00 a.m., with her celebration of life to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont. Cremation arrangements for Mrs. McKinley were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Dottie and I were students at China School for a number of years. She always excelled in her school work. She was a very very good and smart person. She will be missed. Rest in peace Dottie!

Bill, My heart hurts for you. Dottie was such a fine lady as well as a wonderful nurse. I remember her as a nurse to my Mom probably 40 years ago. She was a favorite of mine.
