Dorothy Dyer Hughes, 98, of Beaumont, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Calder Woods, Beaumont. She was born on November 20, 1926, to Ruth Adelaide Calhoun Dyer and Thomas E. Watson Dyer, in Sherman.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Moncla and her husband, Gary; grandchildren, Rick Holbert and his wife Jen, Kerry Moncla, Amber Berend and her husband Seth, and Gary Kidd; great-grandchildren, Stephen Holbert, Ansley Holbert, Sadie Holbert, Emma Holbert, Kaily Moncla, Luke Moncla, Nate Berend, and Abby Berend; daughter-in-law, Panda Townsend Harris; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Dyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Hughes; son, Tommy Hughes; brothers, Scott Dyer and James Dyer; and sisters, Katherine Shadid, Lela Mae Smith, and Mary Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of your choice.
Mrs. Hughes’ cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
We sure will miss our sweet, happy, loving and caring Granny. She always was in a happy and laughing mood when we were around her. Even at 98 years old she was as happy, spunky and spry as anyone we knew. We love you sweet Granny / Great Granny. Love, Kerry, Kaily and Luke.
