Dorothy Marie Hood

August 16, 1945 - December 8, 2024

Dorothy Marie Hood, 79, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 8, 2024, surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was born on August 16, 1945, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Mickey Kelly Klem and Leslie Klem.

Dorothy spent her life as a caregiver and provider for her family.  She was the rock of the family, the glue that held us all together. Her love for being a caregiver and provider did not stop with her family.  Throughout her life she took in extended family, friends and strangers in need. She provided them shelter, food, clothing and most of all the love they were lacking in their life.  She turned her love for taking care of people into her life’s work by being a foster parent, to many, over the last 30 years.  But she didn’t stop there, she ultimately adopted 8 of her foster children. She had 4 daughters and 3 stepchildren also.  Giving her a grand total of 15 children. She was a mom, Auntie and grandma to many. Also, she was a devoted wife to Gordon for nearly 42 years. Being around Dorothy, there was never a dull moment. Her sense of humor was unmatched.  Playing pranks on her children and grandchildren gave her great joy. She loved to outsmart and out whit you. And she was pretty good at it! She also loved Jehovah. For over 50 years she devoted her life to serving him.  We believe she served him well. She showed people the love that God asks of us, she put God and family above all, and she tried to walk in Jesus’s footsteps. She failed many times. She was not perfect. But she never stopped trying.

Well done mom!  Your time on earth is done.  We got this from here. We will honor your name and make you proud by giving the world what you gave the world, love.

We love you

I gave the marriage talk for Gordon and Dorothy. We are all unique and special in Jehovah’s eyes. What I appreciated about Dorothy is her straight- forward disposition. She was not phony. Jesus loved that about Nathaniel. He said he as an “Israelite in whom there is no deceit” John 1:47
My Jehovah remember us for good. May we enjoy life forever.

    Karen Chance-Gleitz says:

Are you going to be Zooming it? Because of my health I won’t be able to attend. Although I would very much like to. I love her so much. Our close friendship was well over 40 years & as I told her…I will love her until the day after forever & WILL carry ALL our memories in my heart. The twinkle in her eyes when she laughed & the sound of her laughter. As she would say, “It’s not goodbye…it’s…see ya later. 🥰 Love to you all…💖💖💖💞
