Dottie Paul Stewart Youngblood
Dottie Paul Stewart Youngblood, 84, of Friendswood, was born on December 12, 1938, and went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2023. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Dottie was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Inez Bond Stewart and E.R. “Doc” Stewart, and she grew up in Benton, Arkansas. She met Lester Youngblood in Benton, and they were married on November 30, 1956. The two of them moved to Nederland for Lester to begin his work as a wood shop teacher at Nederland High School in 1957. Dottie attended Lamar University and received an Elementary Education degree with a music minor. Dottie taught music at Langham Elementary School in Nederland for 30 years, and she retired in 1994. After retiring, Dottie remained very active by continuing to play and lead music at her church and by teaching private piano lessons in her home.
Music was always a large part of Dottie’s life. She and her father played and sang together at “singings” in Arkansas from when Dottie was about 10 years old. At First Baptist Church in Nederland, she was the organist for over 50 years. Dottie taught piano lessons to many children in Nederland over the years and played for many weddings and funerals.
Family was extremely important to Dottie. She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Krause and husband, Brian, of Friendswood, and Paula Mohica and husband, Ron, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Stewart Mason and wife, Leslye, of Knoxville, TN, grandson, Geoff Krause and fiancé, Steph Quisenberry, of Odessa, and granddaughter, Lauren Krause and fiancé, Mike Stevens, of Dallas. She is survived also by two great-grandchildren, Alex and Elena Mason, and by many nieces and nephews.
Dottie is preceded in death by her husband, Lester, her parents, and her brother, Jerry Stewart.
A gathering of Mrs. Youngblood’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland.
