Douglas Billings
On September 13, 2024, Douglas Billings was able set his tools aside to join the love of his life inside the pearly gates. He was joyously welcomed by his wife of 72 years, Vivian Billings, his mother and father, Thomas and Verna May Billings, his sisters, Juanita, and Ruby Fern, and brothers, TC and Billy Joe and many more family and friends. Most importantly he met face to face with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Doug blessed this world on December 6, 1925, where he shared his servant’s heart, and limitless work ethic with his family and friends. He was the definition of a devoted, hard-working husband, father, PawPaw, OGP and friend. Earlier in life he met his soulmate, Vivian McClusky. They married on July 15, 1946, and proceeded to build a strong and faithful family with their unwavering love and devotion. He would tell you his greatest pride was his large family and loved to tell you of his adventures of traveling the nation with his wife visiting and helping build, renovate, or contribute in any way for his family and friends. He attended numerous sporting, cheering and dancing events, musical recitals, graduations, and awards ceremonies of all his 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Doug was a jack of all trades. He never sat still. He would design and craft beautiful furniture, and other smaller items with masterful hands leaving a little bit of his artistic legacy with all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His laughter and shenanigans will live forever in the hearts of everyone he was close to, and his skill and ingenuity will forever influence future generations. He was truly a counselor and mentor to all.
He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He also worked for and retired from City Service Oil Company after 43 years. Doug was a devoted member of North End Baptist for many years and dedicated his last years to his Sunday School and Senior Men’s Group helping all those in need.
Doug’s humor, charm, and determination will forever be remembered by his friends and family. He will be loved and celebrated in the hearts of his surviving family which include his sister, Darryce Ross; son, Jerry Billings and his wife, Terri, of Georgetown, TX; daughters, Kay Compton of Katy, TX and Renee Neild and her husband, John, of Beaumont, TX; and sons Randy Billings and wife, Anna, of Tucson, AZ and Scott Billings and wife, Ellen, of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Kevin and Audrey Billings, Cortney Neild, Kim and Brian Erlanson, Christy and Eric Miller, Kelly and Brent Price, Brad Compton, Stephanie and Jeff Svatek, Preston and Molly Lewis, Brandon and Ashley Billings, Tori and Matt Kaiser, Madeline Martin, Kyler and Corinne Billings, and Molly Martin; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.

Renee, I didn’t know your dad but listened to all the wonderful things you had to say about him. He sounded like a wonderful dad and friend.I am so sorry he is no longer here but thankful he is in heaven. I know you will miss him. Praying for you and your family.🙏
Douglas was one of my favorite clients when I was doing residential cleaning. I was always amazed at the projects he was doing, whether it be building a fence, shoveling rocks, or planting a tree. The work ethic that he had, especially in his late 90s, inspired me every time I went to his home. It was an honor to of known him, and I’ll never forget him. Prayers to all of his family.
What a wonderful obituary for a wonderful man. I am happy to know Scott and Ellen and through them be able to see the great legacy that he left for us in this world. It is wonderful to know that he is happy and healthy with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May we all take Doug’s life as an example of love that he shared for us as he waited to finally meet the Lord face to face.
Oh Randy—thank you so much for your thoughtful words. Doug blessed our lives beyond measure, and it’s hard to imagine our world without him. The sweet and tender support of our friends and family is so much appreciated. Thank you again. ❤️
May the thought of all our caring and sympathy we feel be a source of consolation that is deep and very real. Remember all the happy memories in faith, love, and loss. Dougie, a special Uncle, man, and Christian; never to be forgotten. Family in Christ. Much Love,
