I had the privilege of playing YMCA football under “Coach” Graff’s leadership as a youngster. My parents worked late most weekdays and Saturdays weren’t off the work week menu either. Dr. Graff was mine and plenty other kids transportation to and from practice when necessary. I remember some game days there might be 10 of us loaded up in the back of his pick up camper shell suited up for battle. Coach Graff and his assistant coaches were great positive male role models for me as a child. I’m grateful for his service to our community.
Condolences to all friends and family of Dr. Graff.
P. S. Sorry for the holding penalty I got called for that cost us the Championship on the last play of the last game of the season. 198? 😂 He wouldn’t let me hang my head or apologize.
Known Doc for a long time. Still came to the shop regularly and insisted on loading and unloading his machine alone. Didn’t need any help. Took him a while but he was good as gold. Will miss him.
To the Graff family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Graff. I knew him as Coach Graff. I was proud to play on the Cardinals as a young football player. My family could not afford any football equipment and Dr. Graff and his brother Harley paid for all of my equipment and made sure that I was well suited up. These two brothers help shape a young man’s life to be better. They were amazing influences on me which now I have passed on to my two sons. Rest in peace, Dr. Graff.
Respectfully,
Duerler (John)
Dr. Graff was a gentleman of the highest caliber – his family at FBCH will miss him deeply.
